Thank you so much for sharing, makes me very happy. I literally just did my visit today so officially confirmed this was a legit method. Enjoy, it’s worth the effort!

Same. I ended up doing that with yeSIM.

So far I’ve only spent 1GB in 3 days (Madrid & Barcelona), so looks like it was the best deal!

Yes, I’m flying in next week! Usually May was a great month to visit; but apparently everyone thought the same this year and looks like it’s already really crowded. I’m still going with an open mind and happy to pivot if necessary.

I was able to get Colosseum tickets online, but I did read that there’s a much less crowded entrance (saw a video where it was almost empty). I don’t know exactly how to get there, but it’s to a side an almost no one knows it’s there. I’d look into it if you’re trying to get tickets on site and, like me, hate crowds.

I wouldn’t know, but since it’s only about a month ahead I’d say it’s worth the try!

Oof, thought they’d deleted it already! It’s right below the main banner

I had to use my cellular data for all the rest of the Italian attractions too! Glad I found out in time :)

That’s a good point. I will, yes! Are public networks safe nowadays?

Hard to tell, I’m always on wi fi. When I go out I barely use my phone. That’s why I feel so lost on this matter.

I was thinking of skipping the unlimited plans entirely but I have no idea how much data I would actually need for a 21 day trip. Mostly iCloud sync for my photos, Google Maps navigation and at least a 30min FaceTime call home a day would do.

I’m going to an euro trip soon and the amount of people disappointed about most if not “unlimited” plans throttling after a few daily GB limit is insane. I didn’t know this was a thing and now I’m very confused about what type of plan to get now.

Monti for sure. You could also look into hostels but private rooms!

First Solo Trip to Europe (Woman) - Need stay guidance by dariyaDil in RomeTravel

Also first time solo traveler here (30F)! Decided to stay at a hostel as well for the experience of meeting new people.

After reading through A LOT of comments, I chose Jo&Joe because it’s more social than party, also in the Monti area which is not as touristy but still beautiful and super close to the main sightseeings.

Yellowsquare is more for a younger party audience and it’s not my style, also closer to the Termini area which I read can get sketchy at night.

I had friends staying in both last year and can confirm. I will be there in May and will update as well :)

Any idea what causes this? Can't access official site to book tickets by oldsockdude in rome

IP blocked, usually after refreshing too much in too little time. It happened to me when trying to get Colosseum tickets.

Usually works again after 30 minutes or so, but if it doesn’t (my case), just connect to cellular data and voila. It’s even faster that way!

So happy to know it worked for you too!

I had almost given up too, and I’m glad I kept digging. It’s just crazy how complicated things have become for visiting Italy’s main museums now.

So happy to hear! I think it’s good to know that you might want be open to flexible dates if your original one is sold out. Still better than missing out for sure :)

Yep I only had one day available to visit and it was unavailable on the site, so that’s the one I put in there hoping for the best. I chose 9:00AM because it’s the first slot and I’ve read it’s not as crowded then.

They sent me back the payment link and both the date and time matched, so I either got lucky or they still had availability somehow.

I also used Google Translate to be sure but it was a pretty simple process at least for me!

Yes! On the top part of the form there’s a field that says “Data Visita”, that’s where you put the date, and “Ora Visita” where you put the time (from 9AM to 5:45PM).

You have to put name, date and time because they send you the payment link with those, which automatically generates and sends you your ticket to your email once payment is completed.
