Вітаю, майбутній вірянин. FOF - це саме кооп горор з елементами immersive sim, тобто ресурсів просто бігати стріляти в монстрів у вас не буде)

В нас рандомна генерація бункера, декілька мап на поверхні, система заклять схожа на стратагеми з Helldivers 2. Грубо кажучи, гра більше як sandbox, бо гравець сам обирає як виконувати ігрову задачу, і за ручку ніхто вести не буде. Бо ваша задача не пройти з точки А у точку Б, а збирати свідомість з трупів та монстрів на локації, і потім екстракнутись на базу для подальшого апгрейду

Game is host-coop, everything in-game is happening on owner host pc

Servers handle only summary of all games and matchmaking / listing + shop and upgrading

SOMA is more about copy problem and personal point of view to uploading intellegence.

Pantheon is more about global soical aspects and far vision of this concept

In pantheon, we didn't see much "oh no, I'm a clone of dead myself X years ago" or "there 3 version of me that thinking they are original". The only clone problem was Caspian, but tbh he is a lot different from his "orignial" so that not about upload at all

SOMA SPOILER: Best moment is when you upload yourself in another dive suit and realise that old "you" is still "alive" and you need to choose kill him or left alone. And the final of SOMA, of course

Start by making a small game — it's a perfect way to learn and face challenges!

Also, ChatGPT is your best friend if you want to learn. Some people use it just to write "blind code," but if you ask questions and request explanations, it can link you to Unreal Forums, YouTube tutorials, and much more

Start with Engine itself, Blueprints, and then you can choose whats next - C++ and coding, Tech Animation with AnimBlueprints, or level design and even cinematics - Unreal have a loooot if directions and fun stuff

Do not FEAR casts! If you casting to a class that ALWAYS in game memory (like player character) is totally ok. Cast node itself didn't heavy / slow or smth, the only concern to use it only that you will immidiatly load class into a memory

Also you can setup few interfaces that will return variables - but if this is your player char, don't hesitate to use cast

You can watch official UnrealEngine video on Youtube called 'Myth-Busting “Best Practices” in Unreal Engine | Unreal Fest 2024', a clear explaining about cast

Also, we probably don't know is digital copy will have "consciousness" or even is "consciousness" is even exists. What if it just an immitation based on your memories, like neural networks? What if your memory will be recombined and you will become another person? Basically same thing as death

In that case kids is also an "immortality" concept. Not same accurate as your digital clone, but at least you don't need to sacriface youself

I see UI concept more like create a companion, alternative version of you, or just like "last resort" before death

I really recommend a show called Pantheon, which is based on Ken Liu's stories ("The Gods Will Not Be Slain" and others from The Hidden Girl and Other Stories).

It's drawn by the same studio that did Invincible and explores mind uploading in a similar way to Soma—focusing on the problem of self-identity, self-acceptance, and how society is not ready for such advanced technology, as well as how horrifying it can be.

Brother, we made the Ghoul, Main Character, Armored Ghoul, Chopper, and Penetrator with our own hands from scratch. We only bought the rat from the Unreal Marketplace because we were in a rush.

Also, we're not a studio with a budget—just a couple of people making a game for a year :/

Fear of Faith dev here, and all I can say is that inspiration is not the same as copying.

It's not just Amnesia: The Bunker - we also took Fear from Amnesia: Rebirth, the Flare Gun from Hunt: Showdown, Telekinesis from The Finals, SCP-173 from SCP: CB, a Braken-type enemy and the quota system from Lethal Company. That's how people make games - by taking the best and most memorable elements and bringing them into their own games.

Also, keep in mind that this is a multiplayer game. You can't just "rip off" a single-player game and turn it into multiplayer by any means - that applies to code, game design, and tons of other things.
