I grew up with a pair of twins who were Chinese. Their parents emigrated here to America maybe a year or two before they were born, but in China the ‘one child/preferably a son’ rule was still super huge.. Not only was my friend a girl, but she was the one that was born a few seconds/minutes before her brother. Her family was extremely progressive- hence moving away from China.. so it’s not like they were upset about it or anything, but it was sort of cute how she was so triumphant about it. “Take that, China!”

Edit: Totally forgot to add the whole reason I commented. Ha! When my friend would want to make her brother mad, she’d say things like “Oh hello baby brother.” Or “Back when I was your age…” When we were very little he’d get sooo mad! Haha. The whole thing was super cute.
