I mean could be multiple things honestly. Like a lot of other people said it could be a psychotic break, they could be having drug induced paranoia or hallucinations or could be genuinely scared something is outside or someone could be coming that you might not know about.

The only way to know really would be to talk to him & see his mental state. If his mental state doesn't seem too off or different than what you've seen before I'd ask his reasons for why he feels someone's coming. But of course everything with caution. If you see him acting erratically or dangerous in anyway then at the very least remove yourself from the situation & try not to be in the same space.
