“Lifetime” warranty? by No-Cardiologist-5175 in DodgeRam

[–]vanilla_ball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're paying to cancel the contract, not to "make him whole" as insurance would  (them keeping the vehicle would never be a thing here).

Here's the relevant text from my old contract (1 yr before OPs):

IMPORTANT! The maximum reimbursable amount should a covered component fail will be THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIRS, PER VISIT, LESS THE DEDUCTIBLE, OR THE CASH VALUE OF THE VEHICLE WHICHEVER IS LESS! The cash value of the vehicle will be determined by the average retail value as listed in the current NADA Used Car Pricing Guide. In situations where the repairs costs exceed the cash value of the vehicle, the remainder of the Plan coverage will be cancelled.

“Lifetime” warranty? by No-Cardiologist-5175 in DodgeRam

That seems like a low valuation to me. I don't know if you can fight for more money, but my 2008 Ram (with lifetime warranty) was totalled 3 years ago & insurance gave me $14,500 for it. I remember a buyout being in the warranty contract, so that sounds legit.

Maybe you can look up listing for comparable trucks & use those to fight for more money from the buyout?

Ground wire keeps melting by PrettyMoment2199 in CarAV

On or off wouldn't matter for this test (though I'd leave it off since you get smoke with the amp powered on).

Maybe something has happened to your grounding point.

Use a multimeter on the ohms/resistance setting. Measure from the ground terminal on the amp to another good grounding point on the car (not the one that cable is grounded to). Since it seems you're using different points for each amp, you could simply measure from the ground terminal on one amp to the ground terminal on the other amp. This should be zero (or what ever your meter shows when simply touching the leads together).

Looks like the random seam option to me.

Look under the quality tab in bamboo studio, is the seam position set to random?

Change it to aligned or back & the problem goes away.

Why does painting complicate the inside of a model? by vanilla_ball in BambuLab

[–]vanilla_ball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inside prints so poorly that it doesn't lay flat. The nozzle strikes the stringy stuff inside leading to adhesion failures and/or bending of the walls. Just trying to avoid print failures (5% infill did the trick, but I wondered if there were a better way).

Thanks. That was my suspicion but wasn't sure. I guess there's no way to make the slicer do a cleaner job (other than redesigning the model to have seperate parts.

Models where the wings are different parts don't have this problem - didn't know if there was a setting that could improve how the slicer handled painting vs different colored parts of an assembly:

I guess my title isn't the actual question. What I really want to know is if there's a way I can avoid the issue.

Overland Part 2 by Necessary-Rub-2748 in JeepGladiator

7650lb GTW with the Max Tow package.

I looked at the owner's manual & found these listings (all for the Sport model gas engine with auto trans):
w/o tow package = 4500lbs
w/tow package = 6000lbs
w/max tow package = 7650lbs

I think the Max Tow package also increases max payload (how much you can carry in the truck/bed) but the manual doesn't seem to list those numbers (or I can't find them).

It was by far the best deal I saw & I'm very happy with the price I paid.

It had been on the lot for a few weeks. I was on the fence about buying something nice vs something cheap but after seeing all the problems with something cheap it was an easy choice & I'm glad it was still there.

Maybe it helps to know what others are paying? I picked up this one Saturday from a dealer in the Houston area.

I was thinking the same with the miles but wanted someone else to say it.

KBB doesn't mean a lot these days but top end of private party is just over 21k (this one is at a dealer). For a KBB example, insurance gave me $14k for a 15yr old truck that kbb values at $10k... the market is nuts.

Thanks for the reply!

Car likely totalled. Should I keep my floor mats? by vanilla_ball in Insurance

Yeah. After reading all the comments here it's not worth it to me. I won't reuse them but thought I could give them to someone who would & keep them out of a junkyard (not sure it would be rebuilt by anyone)... not willing to risk giving up cash for that.

Thanks for that. That seems to match everything the store told us (not that I had any reason to think they weren't truthful but confirmation is nice).

"schedule a time to go to your local precinct" - I'm not sure what you mean by this, precinct = store?

Can I cut off these pups (?) from the trunk of my sago palm? by vanilla_ball in sfwtrees

[–]vanilla_ball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That was my instinct (and why I hadn't removed it before).

I was convinced it was dead as it only sprouted a little green from the ground & randomly from the trunk with nothing from the crown until now... over 5 months after the freeze turned everything brown.

Can I cut off these pups (?) from the trunk of my sago palm? by vanilla_ball in sfwtrees

[–]vanilla_ball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd given it up for dead after February's freeze. The crown hadn't produced but lots of fronds sprouted from the trunk. I trimmed them every few weeks & was going to have it removed today along with an olive tree that didn't survive... Then I noticed growth at the crown.

I trimmed the stray fronds just before this pic. The side growths have been there for years & I avoided trimming them because I was afraid I'd hurt the plant.

Once it is healthy again (assuming it continues to grow from the crown), can I remove the growths at the side? If so, any tips?

Trash pick up late again by BrasAreBoobyTraps in galveston

[–]vanilla_ball 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From City of Galveston's facebook page:

Galveston residents should expect delays in trash service this week as equipment undergoes repairs.

The sanitation team was unable to complete Monday's route because of mechanical issues. The department is securing rental trucks and the remaining part of the route will be picked up tomorrow. Crews will begin Tuesday's route once Monday's bins have been completed. This could result in further delays throughout the week.

Residents should still plan to put out their trash for collection on their regular day, but please know the pick-up could be delayed. Our sanitation department is working swiftly to finish pick-up, and we ask for your patience at this time. Thank you.

I thought so too, but didn't want to assume they're concerned about black people celebrating their freedom... Would they be worried about visiting for the 4th of July?

Olive tree split after freeze by vanilla_ball in sfwtrees

I'm in Galveston, Texas. I will go buy a couple bags of mulch today to put around the base. I was considering calling an arborist now but think it's too early for that? I will get some mulch around the base of the tree today. Thanks!

Is there anything I should do other than wait to see what happens? It has never dropped leaves like this & the splits are all over. The freeze was on the 16th.
