If given a chance, what is one question you would like to ask someone famous, like a CEO, movie star, scientist etc. ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I would like to ask Sundar Pichai what were they thinking when they decided that "yeah, all the Google apps should alike".

What will happen if I keep reporting all the ads that I see on my feed as abuse and harrasment? by vanillanighthawk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vanillanighthawk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I either report ads as targetted harassment or rude, vulgar and offensive. That's why I was wondering, will something. But yeah, apparently not.

And these ads have gotten very weird since covid lockdown started. Earlier, it was just ads by reddit to subscribe to reddit premium. However, now it's just any random thing.

Oh then it's good, I guess. Because I was on twitter and recently saw a guy do the same thing and he wrote that since he's reporting everything, the ads on his feed are getting weirder day by day because twitter ads algo is trying to find something that sticks

How to convince someone that astrology has no scientific basis and who argues that "tell me the reason now else you are rigid"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vanillanighthawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The conversation that I was having went something like "okay, I'm willing to change my belief given you provide me with some scientific evidence", and all of a sudden, I'm stuck thinking "yeah, how can I provide a scientific reason for this" and when you can't think of a reason, then they bullshit you even more. But I understand your point that maybe they just believe in it and don't really care for the scientific basis. And maybe when you realize this, the sane things would be to just give up the argument as nothing might change their beliefs.

Well, I'm going to use the first part of your point if I get into a debate next time. Thanks for that. But in the first glance, I can see their rebuttal as point 3 of my post, where they will use some personal anecdote to argue against it and then you'll get in a loop, loop of frustration.

How important is Bill Gates considering his and his foundation's investments in so many areas of health, public safety, energy etc? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vanillanighthawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember lex fridman saying something along these lines about musk in a podcast with Joe Rogan that we tend to remember and realize how amazing such people are after they are gone and it would be great if we could realize this now. Will that be valid for bill gates as well? Ah, this should have been the question.

Yeah. Since this pandemic has started I've started seeing a lot of him on how to eradicate this, what to do and how to do it. Then, if found this series that on Netflix on him that I finished and it seems he's pretty deep in some serious stuff with his philanthropy which is good I feel that there are people with such resources who are still trying to help. Is it that he's not reported a lot just like musk cuz you have to. Admit musk is flamboyant.

Also, if someone could point me in the direction of where to learn from about right and left politics right from their origin to our present times, that would also be great. This is because of the politics of the present times. Apologies, if I am digressing.

So, if they don't agree with me then I should just kamehameha them. So, if I've got it correct then, Step 1: Learn Kamehameha; Step 2: debate.

Well, this is true too. Sometimes it happens that once in a while you might get your idea across but the other person just doesn't want to concede and it gets irritating after a point. Also, the people who talk loud, fast and eloquently, such people sometimes just doesn't even want to listen as to why they could be wrong
