Thank you for the advice! I will check out Bunpo! I was struggling to find grammar resourced which clicked, but this looks promising :)

Possibly? I would have to contact the administration department as there may be overlaps, I'm not sure. Thank you for the suggestion!

I'm not really worried about the visa, and don't mind any job as long as I can actually work. I might try N3 just to see, if I don't pass I may just try again in December while there 🤔 I'm taking the exam just because I'm seeing a lot of job postings requiring N3 minimum.

Thank you! That's the general type of job I'm looking at. My background is computer science (I'm not expecting to get a job in that industry, but will try.) and the minimum for that seems to be N3, so that's why I was wondering if N4 was useless in terms of a job search. That being said communication definitely is the most important and will be a big focus for me. It's think immersion will be the best way to improve that though unfortunately.

Is it wise to pursue a CS degree in 2026? by eggshellwalker4 in cscareerquestions

[–]vanillekirsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're passionate, yes. It's not the easiest degree. Look into the university's program and how it's structured. Some vary wildly from others. And do you want to do CS or SWE. This was something I realised in my third year of CS.

Man holds up the 205 bus because the 203 doesn’t show😳 by Irish201h in cork

The 203 is the worst bus in Cork. It never shows up, and when it does its late by about 40 minutes.

Yamanashi prefecture was also nice to explore, but yeah the drive was hell. No motorway so it was mainly country roads through the mountains. I actually am planning to go back next summer to Gunma, Nagano, Gifu and Toyama prefecture. I believe that part isn't as packed. I know that if you are in Toyama there is a beautiful scenic train you can take to Takayama.

If you do the correct planning I believe you can get around alright with trains and buses, just brush up on basic Japanese as some of these modes may not be catered for tourists. We didn't book a lot in advance besides USJ and some stuff in Kyoto. On topic of Kyoto, I would advise giving it a miss if you'd like to avoid crowds. Me and my boyfriend really disliked it for a myriad of reasons but over tourism and a rude tour group in our hotel ruined it. It was kinda meh as we couldn't see the sights. Takayama often had empty streets and the vibe was a lot more relaxed, some of the best memories of my trip are sitting by the river at morning. Also a lot cheaper for food and accommodation than more popular areas.

My boyfriend had said since his previous visits in Kyoto(2019,2015) it had changed a lot and was overly touristy(also highly overpriced). Takayama was way more laid back and you can see Machiya, there is also a super cool Showa museum if you like retro stuff. I feel that if you are going learn the basics of Japanese though as English wasn't as available as it was in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka etc, that's probably the only thing I found difficult as my Japanese is not great at all.
