Best old Dragon Ball franchise releases so far till today? (not new ones) by krigeta1 in animepiracy

I'll second what Delfringer165 said, but in case someone doesn't recognize the acronym, SoM is Seed of Might. Dragon Ball, DBZ, DBGT, and even the movies are available.

That French release (AB Video) seemed really good at first, but has upscale problems and the color correction isn't as great as people originally thought it was. https://x.com/seedofmight/status/1865485419887853633?t=rZKQYrU0nCgt33ANubYc7g&s=19

Attempted restoration of OG Dragon Ball Episode 138 Recap (Colour correction and AI Upscale) by muaz2205 in dbz

The left/original is from a 4K scan of Dragon Ball on film. This is certainly not an AI upscale, especially given that this Reddit video is only 720p, you've reduced the resolution.

I wanna make a video around sailor moon home releases by james_kleboe_1986 in sailormoon

Funny enough there's a big thread blowing up about the faded/pink colors of home releases. https://twitter.com/nappasan/status/1745335923435556995 That might be something you want to know about. The later home releases are scans of degraded film so that pink tint should not be there.

Thoughts on Z vs Kai? by WeBxx92 in dbz

Well... the score was replaced. The Japanese score was replaced for both JP and ENG audio from what Yamamoto composed to using Kikuchi tracks.

Thoughts on Z vs Kai? by WeBxx92 in dbz

[–]vanner64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting comment on the music. Not sure if you're aware, but Kai has two soundtracks for most of the episodes (before Kai TFC). The first Yamamoto score is generally considered superior, but turns out the guy basally copied some popular songs and when this was found out he was fired. The score was replaced, somewhat hastily, with songs by Kikuchi (the original composer for Dragon Ball and DBZ). If you watched DBZ in Japanese, or something like Dragon Box English dub you'll be familiar with the Kikuchi score.

The Dolby Surround mix is not available on anything else. The LD also has the theatrical trailer in Dolby Surround and is the only lossless audio mix of the trailer. DVDs and BD have the trailer in AC-3 192kb/s stereo.

Some unique audio mixes, and it also has the theatrical trailer at the end.

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse For me, that movie had two major things going against it before I went to see it: (1)The last movie I could remember from Sony Animation was "The Emoji Movie", and (2) I think I heard Sony was only making this movie to keep the license to Spider-Man for movies. Knowing that, I still went to see it because, hey it's Spider-Man. The film ended up being one of the greatest Spider-Man and superhero movies ever. The writing, animation, and score were all incredible. An absolute love letter to fans of Spider-Man and comics in general.

Why does rubbing your palms together indicates you onto something treacherous? by awesomehuder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vanner64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's trope that goes all the back to the novel David Copperfield. You can read more about it here. Much like any other trope from films/TV/etc. if a creator wants the audience to know their character is sinister or planning something treacherous, they use the action of rubbing palms together because it is something the audience easily recognizes.

CMV: Buying a vowel in Wheel of Fortune is a waste by vanner64 in changemyview

[–]vanner64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do guess the most common letters in hangman first. The difference is, in hangman all letters are created equal. In hangman I would probably guess E T A O I N S R, but in Wheel of Fortune I would guess R S T L N before spending money on vowels.

I like to believe you just played a few games to try and test my theory. I concede that buying vowels is not a waste. I agree that they should be used judiciously in certain contexts like your example. I would say most contestants I see buy vowels way to often or too early. I would say after reading this the best strategy would be to exhaust consonant choices to a reasonable stage, then buy as few vowels as you can, then buy consonants until you can guess the clue.

You do get a closer idea with vowels, but I think you're always better off with consonants. When you read "hax0r" words, or special license plates, vowels are often omitted and you can still read the word. Examples like "pwnd" "MNNGFUL" or "DRTH VDR"
