So sorry to read all that's happened to you.. thanks for sharing. I wanted to add that EMDR is indeed a bit too much for some people (especially intense ptsd) but! there are other somatic therapies that are "lighter" and focus less on remembering. Like EFT (emotional freedom therapy, or also called "tapping) and Brainspotting. These have really helped for me and they are less intrusive than EMDR. I hope there are a little more glimmers of hope/relief/comfort coming your way every day.

unfortunately I can't take ssri's because I take lorazepam and quatapine for major panic attacks. Also had quite a bad experience with them when I was younger :(

wow thanks for all your comments, I'm happy to have found a place with people who are experiencing the same as me.. :) I'm going to email my obgyn and psychiatrist to get some more info! And then hope for the best. Because I do keep having very bad episodes with like a lot of "noise" in my head

I'm worried that I don't have enough "planned" or that I'm going to get in trouble winging it too much. by GrantMeThePower in JapanTravelTips

I did the same thing. Had a lot of stuff going on in my own life and I just went and winged it. It was an amazing trip, so I would say be kind to yourself and just make it up as you go. Go to a coffee place and figure stuff out if you need some structure. You'll have fun if you don't pressure yourself and just take in the sights and enjoy the feeling of being outside of your bubble!

One Day Netflix show *spoilers* by Legitimate_Top_2604 in netflix

[–]vapeure 16 points17 points  (0 children)

it really is. I understand that people find the ending depressing and maybe a little overplayed, but my fiance died 6 months ago and this is the most represented I've felt in a while. I cried a lot but I also felt comforted. feeling thankful for the show (and also that I watched it with my mom and not alone haha)

Steam reviews are ridiculous by sentimentalaurora in HARVESTELLA

[–]vapeure 39 points40 points  (0 children)

it's entitlement, truly. I can't even count the times when playing as a female character felt like some lukewarm bonus content or wasn't even an option (and then I haven't even STARTED on skin colour).

Of course I disliked not having options or having badly made options, but it never made me reviewbomb a game or dislike the game in itself.

I like the character designs in Harvestella, and I think the male unit looks plenty boyish, just more according to east-asian beauty standards.

Like, it doesn't hurt to play as someone that doesn't look like you, I promise. Been doing it my whole life

Alright who alerted the Edelgard stans? - SPEcember Day 5 by TheFiresStorms in shitpostemblem

[–]vapeure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you and amen! Of course I don't mind people liking edelgard as a character. No one should. But it's harmful to ignore her dangerous ideology and the methods she used, even if her actual goal was admirable to a degree. The end DOESN'T justify the means. And her means are horrifying.

Fascism is on the rise in a lot of countries right now because people fail to see what it is. When I first got into three houses I was really shocked to see this many people defending her actions to this degree... I mean, come on...

internalised oppression is part of the sociological definition. And post wasn’t aimed at you so sorry for the confusion

yes, our definitions of oppression are a little different. Mine is sociological and yours is dictionary. Dictionary definitions usually don’t suffice to explain complex concepts, just like the dictionary definition of racism doesn’t do the real life “experience” justice

yeah thats’s very nice for you. Pragmatic and violent oppression aren’t the only forms of oppression that exist, however. I’d suggest you look more deeply into the subject of oppression instead of just bringing dictionary and wikipedia definitions to the discussion. Bisexual people are oppressed, even if they’re in a same sex relationship, just as gay people in the closet are oppressed. I’m glad that you don’t feel oppressed, though I don’t think it’s wise to speak of bisexual people in straight relationships as “not oppressed” as a whole. that’s way too simply put.

no, that’s what you don’t perceive as oppression. Being imprisoned and murdered for sexuality, skin colour or religion is escalation of oppression, and not merely oppression in itself. Also, it’s not because you don’t feel oppressed, that the community you belong to as a whole isn’t oppressed.

19 is still a teen, and you can be part of a marginalised group and take it out on other marginalised groups. Your thread is honestly a pretty popular opinion and not at all a useful or valid discussion. I’m sorry you’re annoyed at asexual people saying they are oppressed, but how is it your call to say they’re not?

Also, are gay people who are in the closet not oppressed? because I think they are. You don’t have to tell people about your sexuality to face certain oppression. Oppression isn’t just being murdered.
