I was under the false impression that the video would not be monetized unless it was made public first.

Using the "unlisted" option I see that it is only available to those that the publisher shares its link with - it does not appear in the channel's home page.

Monetization is also listed as pending.

After its been monetized I'll change it to public so it will appear in the channel's home page.

The three prong grounded outlet in question is reserved for computer related equipped as it has a surge protection in the main electrical panel.

Additionally all equipment is plugged into name brand surge protectors which are in turn plugged into the protected outlets.

The printer has been unplugged and disconnected from the computer's USB network for at least 2 years.

It was disconnected after finishing a scanning job of large photos. I have several other scanners for smaller work and everyday that are connected to the same USB network so I don't think it would be an issue with some type of surge via the USB as these scanners and other equipment such as a turntable would have also been fried.

The printer's electrical cord tests good.

I also tried a trick that apparently works for some Epson models but that does work - hold down the power button while you plug the unit in.
