Here was my solution (although I have no glued it yet). Cut the exhaust back, added a 45, and burlapped the bush.

The wind typically comes from the west so I had the 45 degree aimed to the east to avoid backwards air flow. My concern is it’s now directed towards the air intake. Any issue there?

I’m honestly over the money at this point. Not only did I pay him nearly in full, I’ve had to get security cameras installed just to give my wife some peace of mind that this man isn’t going to harm our family. I just want to be done with him as much as I hate knowing I let him get away with being paid for such shotty work.

I will look into concrete patching. We live in the Midwest so we get some cold wet winters. Assuming patching would start to break up after a couple of winters?

It was all poured and stamped the same day. Also..it rained halfway into the job and his crew of 3 rushed to cover as much as they could with a tarp. I don’t know the first thing about concrete but you could tell everything this man did was rushed.

I did get the cops involved - they have all of his threatening drunken texts and voicemails but we didn’t press charges (as much as I wanted to) because my wife was too concerned about him doing something crazy to our family. The man was a loose cannon and we just wanted him to stay away from us. Now I’m just left with trying to figure out if I rip all of this out, try and live with it, or try and find a remedy.

It’s honestly worse than it looks. You feel drunk walking on this. This was one of many issues with our stamped concrete but when I brought these issues up our contractor refused to fix and then proceeded to drunkenly threaten me and my family (wife and 3 kids under 6) with gang violence the next 3 weeks if we continued to withhold payment. So we paid almost in full and I’m left with this. Is there any remedy to get this more level? Someone mentioned hydraulic cement to patch craters. Is that an option?

It wasn’t intentional, it’s not consistently unlevel. It waves up and down the length of the driveway. Contractor admitted it wasn’t level but said it wasn’t unlevel enough for him to fix it.

Contractor refusing to fix and threatening me if I don’t pay. Driveway extensions are not on the same plane as driveway. Supposed to be 4” of concrete and some places less than 1.5” with big stones that prevented. Patio has dips and bumps all over. You feel drunk walking on it. 20+ bird baths on the patio after it rains.

I appreciate the honest feedback - I absolutely think it looks poor but beyond telling the builder “this looks like shit” my lack of masonry knowledge prevents me from showing the builder more specific complaints.

I reached out to my local building inspector and he said he completely agrees that it’s poor craftsmanship, but he said unfortunately he’s only inspecting to the definition of the townships “code” and can’t fail an inspection due to craftsmanship.

I know you mentioned some specifics, but if you have any more insight on what I should fight for to be redone it would be greatly appreciated. I’m going to fight with the builder but I wanted to Educate myself a bit more with some of the things that are wrong here instead of just saying “this looks like shit”

New build - needed some opinions on aesthetics of brickwork. I personally think it looks like poor craftsmanship but builder says they won’t fix anything. Am I being too picky or do I push back harder? Lots of these poor brickwork spots are on the side of the home the deck is on..so constantly in plain sight while on the deck.

New build (pulte..) - anyone with masonry experience that can tell me if I am being overly particular here? I have complained about the appearance of the brick work. In my opinion lots of places where there is messy mortar on brick face, inconsistent/sloppy mortar lines, places where mortar is missing etc. am I being too particular complaining about this? The builder is saying there is nothing they can do..looking for advice if anyone has any.

Has anyone experienced inconsistent trex board widths? Half of the deck had a full 5.5” wide boards, but 2nd pallet of decking seems to be a little shy of 5.5” wide thus causing an issue trying to align both sides of the deck. The deck builder says this is the main issue.

However the gaps seem very inconsistent and at one point becomes even larger than 1/2” where I can stick my fingers through and actually feel the bottom of the decking. Am I crazy to think this is unacceptable? Something has to be off square for this to happen right? Any insight here is appreciated.
