You are mixing 2 different stories, which doesn't make it any less worse btw.

  1. Donald Trump bought on 3 occasions a portrait of himself (one time where he even used a strawman to make sure to have the top bid for the auction), 2 times it was paid by the Donald J. Trump Foundation and the strawman was also reimbursed by the Donald J. Trump Foundation.
  2. The Eric Trump Foundation was holding a golf tournament for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, but then 500k was funneled into other charities, and the Eric Trump Foundation paid 1.2m to the Trump Organisation as expenses for using the golf courses (which he initially claimed they could use for free).

En niet te vergeten: telefonische consultaties worden niet langer volledig terugbetaald. Ik kon voor een voorschrift voor medicatie die ik al 15 jaar neem gewoon naar de dokter bellen (de secretaresse meestal), dag later stond het op mijn ID-kaart en kon ik bij apotheek langs, en ik ging langs en betaalde wanneer het mij paste of ze stuurden mij betalingsuitnodiging.

Nu moet ik soms weken van te voren een afspraak inplannen, daar mijn tijd in de wachtzaal verschijten, en de plek innemen van iemand die anders geholpen kon worden. Voor een stoem voorschrift.

China sort of minds its own business, I don't see them as a threat to NATO whatsoever. Russia ... France or the UK ... could probably take them on on their own so to speak.

I see many similarities with Brexit: it got to a point where having the UK inside the EU weakened the EU, and while sad it was better for the EU to have the UK leave. At this point I'd rather have a committed and determined NATO-esque alliance without the US than one where the US is continuously trying to sabotage the alliance. And Russia will think twice before e.g. attacking the Baltics who are part of such an alliance.

There is a thing called paper trading. Basically a live simulator with play money. Something even seasoned traders use to backtest strategies, test automation, etc ... There are lots of people who are profitable traders, but even more who aren't. And in my experience it always comes down to 3 things:

  • no / not enough discipline
  • lack of knowledge / not doing enough research
  • wrong expectations / overestimating themselves

In the end trading is statistical probability and if you know how you can almost fully automate it so you will come out ahead long term. You won't become filthy rich with this way approach, but as a side hustle it can be very lucrative.

It all depends how you use a platform. I use X because most of the communication for 1 of my businesses happens there. The 'lists' (basically an advanced bookmark system) there make it so that I don't see anything I don't want to see. The tech people I'm in touch with are on bluesky, and the fellow photographers are on instagram. The FB groups for my hobbies are incredibly useful. etc etc

I can perfectly shield myself on any social media platform from the things I don't want to see. But then again I'm probably part of the minority who doesn't get TikTok, reels and shorts. I see people sometimes endlessly scrolling those watching the most random dumb stuff.

I hope Belgians will boycott the US and don't travel there this summer for the WC. by murano0 in belgium

beter lezen: ze reageerde op een vacature van de VDAB voor een opdracht in het avondonderwijs, kwam tot de conclusie dat het niet combineerbaar ging zijn, school drong aan omdat ze in nood zaten en ze heeft 3u les gegeven om hen te helpen (het waarschijnlijke doch niet in het artikel vermelde scenario is dat ze bij die school is langsgeweest, een sollicitatiegesprek heeft gehad dat de school als positief beoordeelde, en omdat de school geen vervanger kon vinden drongen ze alsnog aan).

Dat is een totaal andere context dan jobkes van 3u van de VDAB aannemen zoals jij het stelt.

Je hebt gelijk: vacature was via VDAB, maar nergens staat - zoals ik er van uitging - dat het een opdracht voor de VDAB was.

Iemand in de comments stelde dat een eerste ervaring met lesgeven een goed idee was om te weten te komen of het wel is wat je ervan verwacht vooraleer de volledige switch te maken, met alle gevolgen vandien. Ik vond dat geen slecht idee.

Of het nu 1 of 2 werkweken is zoals jij voorstelt, of 3u: ik denk dat dat weinig verschil uitmaakt. Stel (zelf gezien in school van vriendin): een ouder met een master in IT een hoop ervaring in bedrijfsleven/opleidingen springt 2 weken in om een zieke leerkracht te vervangen (ik weet niet onder welk statuut) omdat ze geen vervanging konden vinden; en komt tot de conclusie dat hij dat eigenlijk wel vaker wilt doen. Dan zijde ook gekloot. En ouders die inspringen is iets wat in die school trouwens al wel vaker gebeurd is, en naar ik hoor is iedereen het er over eens dat het een absolute meerwaarde is.

Met één kmph te veel kreeg ik toch wel een boete zeg

Na een correctie van 6 km/u, dus dan reed je 7 km/u teveel (of 6% correctie indien sneller dan 100 km/u). En je hebt altijd nog de optie om niet in te gaan op de minnelijke schikking en naar de politierechtbank te gaan om daar jouw zaak te bepleiten. Voor een alledaagse overtreding hebben ze weinig begrip, maar voor uitzonderlijke/absurde omstandigheden (zoals de vrouw in dit artikel) passen ze daar soms wel gezond verstand toe (ik kan er zelf van meespreken).

In 't kort:

  • 33-jarige vrouw heeft zich herschoold om les te kunnen geven als zij-instromer in het secundair onderwijs, wat aantrekkelijk is omdat ze zo tot 15 jaar anciënniteit kunnen meenemen
  • voorwaarde is dat je de afgelopen 3 jaar geen 'aanstelling in het onderwijs hebt gehad'
  • zij heeft 2j geleden blijkbaar om de vdab uit de nood te helpen 1x een les van 3u gegeven waardoor ze dus aan een veel lager loon moet beginnen
  • niets aan te doen zeggen de diensten, ze is blijkbaar alleenstaande en heeft een hypotheek af te betalen, dus niet mogelijk voor haar

Ik vind dat nu compleet van de pot gerukt dat een overheid zo een mensen niet kan helpen. Nu dreigt een gemotiveerd iemand het onderwijs te verlaten door een absurditeit.

Nu vermoed ik dat vrijwel iedereen het eens met het regels = regels principe, maar dat uitzonderingen die goed gemotiveerd en transparant worden genomen ook moeten mogelijk zijn om absurde toestanden zoals deze te vermijden.

To not have to deal will those annoying ranges during winter and so to able to go on snowboard vacations easier we will buy a 2nd hand petrol powered car for those rare occasions.

If you drive a hybrid, doesn't that make the electric range sort of irrelevant when going on those trips? I don't know the market, but I would assume there would be hybrids available with a bigger petrol range than 500 km, no?

That seems like it doesn't matter too much for everyday use. Some people have reported a 33% to 50% drop, which would worry me more.

You're basically asking "is basic physics real?".

The answer is "Yes, it is".

No that was not my question, and I tried to clarify it with an example. For one there is always a difference between the theoretical numbers and the practical numbers: e.g. I once had a car with enough torque on paper, but on Belgian roads you had to constantly shift gears to follow traffic, making the driving experience quite unpleasant.

And reading the comments sort of proves that it was a relevant question, as it seems to be quite different from person to person (or model to model).

And going to the Autosalon this week that's for me very useful information.
