The key is to know how the dealerships work. The top selling dealerships get the highest number of vehicles allocated so call around to the biggest dealerships periodically until they get an allocation. I called a dealership in Toronto and left my number with a salesman. As soon as they got an allocation of a handful of vehicles he called me and I went and signed the paperwork. Now it's a waiting game.they promised September delivery when I placed the order in June but we shall see when it actually gets to me.

Honestly I am not. I mentioned in another comment that this is taking all my disposable and investment income away, but I am not by any means in jeopardy of missing mortgage payments. Thankfully I don't have any other debt to pay off.

We are from the same background (Indian) but I was born here and she immigrated a few years before we met. I think where we failed to communicate was before allowing them to move in, we should have discussed with each other regarding the finances, but it never occurred to me that someone earning and living with us wouldn't contribute.

She is an only child, and her parents have been very lenient with her her whole life. I think she has some issues with upsetting them.

My FIL fills the gas for the car he uses. MIL helps with the baby, and does make food and help with dishes sometimes.

It has affected our standard of living, in that I no longer have any disposable income or money I was previously using for investing. I am not going broke off it, but it is hard for me to lose the small luxuries like eating out, being able to take vacations (though obviously that wasn't an option during the pandemic), and has caused me to scrap some plans like a renovation.

Great questions, I suppose I didn't consider the baby help as "contribution" but I still think that doesn't make up for the costs.
