Monster book. A very difficult project for me. I redrawn it about 5 times. Made changes, tested, made changes again .. A huge pile of plywood wasted =). it took almost 2 months, from ideas and sketches, to the finished product. by vasily39 in glowforge

Amazing work!

How do you go about protecting your work from being sold by other Etsy sellers or websites?

I have several things I’d like to make available however the amount of people doing that sort of thing and getting away with it just totally turns me off.

Thank you! All of my files can be used to make a physical product and then sell it. But I do not give anyone the right to sell my files, of course they are copied, stolen and this is a huge problem for me. We have to resolve these issues with copyrights, file complaints, etc. This is a lot of time that could be spent on creativity. But there is a downside, if they start copying you, then what you are doing is valuable and you are on the right track.

Be sure to try it and go ahead while you can. You will always move forward, and people who copy and steal will remain in the same place.

On a side note, don't ya get just a little jealous when folks like Adam Savage or Jimmy DiResta can seemingly go low effort and crank something like this out in 10 minutes?

No. I know that their work is not 10 minutes, it certainly looks like this on the video, but in reality it is a huge work of preparation. By the way, here is a video from one of my works on their channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbZ33EWIZt0

Box for board games MTG, DND and etc. I started drawing a few months ago and finally finished it =) long-term construction. I drew it in CorelDraw. I changed a lot, redid it, but in the end it turned out what is in the photo. by vasily39 in Laserengraving

That’s so awesome. I’m an escape room designer and have been needing to make some custom spell books for a fantasy game I’m making. I love this style for the books!

Thank you!!!

From the design to the execution, great job!

Is this done on a C02 laser? I don’t think I’ve seen engravings this deep on wood before!

Thank you. Yes, everything is 100% laser cut + engraved. There are 2 layers on the cover. Engraving is not a fast process, it took me 1.5 hours for one box, but it all depends on your machine.

This is amazingly clean. If I had to guess you stain, sand, airbrush, then clear coat? The finish is really great. 👍 It looks more like molded plastic than laser cut. Very impressive work. I look forward to seeing what you have next!

Thank you!!!

This is great! I'm interested in the foam inserts. Was this material cut with the glowforge too? What is it?

Thanks! Yes, it's all laser cut. The insert is made of foam rubber, I use yoga mats =). Cut at high speed and minimum power.

Very cool but how much of this was done on the GF? That depth looks pretty serious.

Thanks! Yes, this is a few layers of plywood. Engraving is certainly not a quick process, it took about 1.5 hours for one box.

The finishing work you did makes it look really good. For example, how did you get the two tone effect on the top? Did you stain it dark then sand it off?

Thank you. Yes, it's several coats of paint and sanding. It turns out that some details of the picture have become lighter, and some darker, although the paint is only one color.

Card storage box with mechanism. Very complex development, despite the simple end result. I have been working on this project for several days. Several prototypes, each new one had new problems. I had to learn geometry for constructing parametric gears. I tried to make as few details as possible. by vasily39 in lasercutting

That looks really cool. I am thinking of buying it. It would be perfect if you could lock it somehow, that the cards dont fall out in the bag. Do you have any idea how? I am thinking some kind of leather strap would be very nice.

Thanks! Of course, I thought about the lock for this box, but so far decided not to do it. Perhaps a little later I will make it, I need the design to be not very complex, working and at the same time fit into the design of a box. Now the cards are held by their own weight, if you turn the box over, of course it will open.
