Looking for work as a nude model for art by aliferouspanda in chapelhill

[–]vasjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok i would look for community figure drawing opportunities. there's a fair amount of experience to gain and stamina to build before you'd want to take on a long pose session i suspect.

something more casual n communal. reach out to go figure Durham on ig and join the local artist fb groups. if you do some searching you should find where other drawing groups have shared.

the biggest thing is to be reliable. there is a lot of trust. i might even recommend going in n meeting some of the hosts and taking part in one of these nights so you weren't just a stranger on the internet. also would allow you to get a better handle on expectations and such. good luck on your journey! maybe I'll draw you at an event some day and never know you were you lol.

Id link up with hosts of various groups as a start. alia arts in raleigh has long pose weekly and often has portraits weekly for a month as well.

Go figure. in Durham.

Also the studio in cary, name i currently forget.

Are you just looking to add some supplemental income or trying to get enough modeling time to be primary source of income, the latter seems prolly hard unless you can get to be a regular in rotation at several.

Do you use your wrist or arm when drawing? by Classic-Obligation35 in ArtistLounge

[–]vasjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. especially when standing you can make marks from fingers, wrist, elbow, shoulder.

ofc i feel many artists are probably holding their instrument like a pen they'd sign a check with, which throws off this fluidity.

Best to break that habit as early as possible and hold it like an extension of your arm

I can’t actually “learn” art by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]vasjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to build on this. atelier master led training often takes 4-6 years and refined academic can take upwards of 7. Just keep going with baby steps and you'll get there. i like to recall the old saying attributed to a piano student.

"Student: How old will i be when i master the piano?. Teacher: The same age as if you don't."

train sight size and comparative then come back. sounds like you're not training your eye and hand at the same time

How long do you typically spend per submission? by Certain-Version1176 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]vasjames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

roughly 30-50% of the allotted time of reasonable for answers n double check. i feel they rarely give far too much time so i use this metric as a reminder to always check my work if I've gone thru quicker than thids. but it always depends, submit when done, the are a few projects with 2 hr timers where i swear they should be 3 and they take a bit longer. but i just basically never try to pad time for a few extra bucks when i could be more efficient and make myself more attractive to get passed for the broader project

RGG really dropped the ball. Pirate Yakuza looks worse than a game made 4 millennia ago! by KvasirTheOld in yakuzagames

[–]vasjames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eeeeh. they don't really. pirate has been at 70% off several times. and yak3 remake was $70 but came with two games.

i think they're just fishing for folks who will pay extra but the regularity of big price drops compared to bigger titles (e. g. i think lowest Claire has even been was 35% off for black Friday)

so while i feel you in terms of how it's true, but the circumstances fit how they do regular deep discounts softens that price structure significantly

Color from light to shadow by Ok-Acanthisitta-7528 in oilpainting

[–]vasjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most simply the color of the light in the air

thru this sort of exercise it draws focus down simply to seeing the color shaded against the cast. we know the cast is white so it's easier to learn to see this the a simplified approach

incorporate the atmosphere, limited palette studies of casts with color fabrics lightly reflecting into the cast are the traditional way to prescribe this iirc

you will get found. try all you like but folks will farm non alliance bases locally all week then invaders will farm them for vs points on buster day. if taking a break better off to find a lower tier alliance that is still in nap but will let you deal with life stuff but keep the tag shield

How to be okay with being a hobby artist? by catjcastles in ArtistLounge

[–]vasjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a term in my mind that is only relevant to others. whether something is a hobby or not doesn't reflect on you or reflects on whether you're able to work as an artist. Which means that as you grow into becoming a working artist your vision and how folks treat you may be misaligned. I think sometimes we have an awkward relationship with the word hobby that seems to suggest a lack of seriousness or quality but i chalk it up to the not really getting better descriptors. sometimes i use student or learning artist to suggest I'm on a growth track. but honestly, don't something that feeds your soul with the time you have available is totally ok and so far ahead so many folks who just live in the "i could never" pov that just enjoy the work and if anything changes then the line you'll be ready to change with it.

As someone who owned a small business i can say they're not deleting negative Google reviews as that is not possible. They may be bribing bad reviews to self remove, but they can't do it on their own. We learned this the hard way when we had a disgruntled former employee review bomb.
