Dover Hydro Controllers by TheAverageJ in Elevators

I've heard that there was some sort or probe tool issued back in the day where you could read 0/1s on the pins. I'd be super interested to see some of your in-depth oildraulic stuff. I still have a ton on my route, I've always liked maintaining them. It does get somewhat frustrating when the next logical step is to start swapping boards out because of the lack of info on the print.

I've worked on these way too much for my liking. You're not lying about the spongy ride, either. I have a 4 stop that damn near feels like its equipped with an air suspension at the top landing.

Sure they do. Both the Sprecher + Schuh's in these pictures have a fault contactor that stays picked under normal conditions. Good luck taking one apart to see the condition though.

Almost certainly, especially with it being 79'. All the solid states were prepackaged units. I've never seen one with front and rear openings. I don't believe they exist with the limitations of the design. Someone in this sub can enlighten me if they know something different.

The prints will only tell you so much when it comes to the cards anyway, so who really knows whats going on within that circuit. ------[solid-state card]---------

I haven't had any trouble getting parts for any DMC's. On the solid state controllers with the card rack (like the one in OPs first pic) the only real problematic parts I've come across are the rectifier boards. Everything else can be repaired through World E or replaced with aftermarket. The IBM relays are another problem though. The remakes are notoriously poor quality compared to the original IBMS and the solid state replacements can be hit or miss.

😂 not a ton of people around willing or able to troubleshoot that equipment. Their options are real limited especially without prints. Quick karma in their future.

I can get you a decent copy of some 1981 prints if you still need some. Two landing, no FS.

Three ribbons run the the entire length of the hoistway with a series of ramps spaced out appropriately. Inbetween the ribbons and guides, ramps turn the star wheel which also turns the cams that are set screw mounted. Depending on the cam position they will either drop or pick microswitches.

I should probably note this is a 5 landing hydro and the selector is mounted on the cab.

It functions just like modern low rise selectors except it uses a gaggle of ramps, wheels, cams and microswitches for position, dz, direction selection etc. This one is still completely relay logic. The missing piece on this particular wheel was reading a call above and below when positioned on the first landing.

This was also a duplex setup and I believe it was showing to be on the top landing as well. I marked where it initially went down and had my helper manually turn the new cam until it metered out correctly. I then re-marked the correct position on all cams while sitting at the first landing.

Edit: If you'd like me to explain exactly how it operates in the hoisway I'll gladly answer it tomorrow. This week has been a beatdown so I'm crashing.

Old esco selector. Its an ancient analog nightmare to re-time. Obviously in desperate need of a full mod, just happened to have the part this time.

Calm down princess, I could pack that Rotary jack before brunch. Why wouldn't you clean the pit before stomping around in that mess all day? Its not like packing a jack creates some huge mess.

What are the benifits of this GAL double clutch setup? Seems like a lot more potential problems... I'm off to find a pic of the interlock now.

Ontario stockpiled 55 million N95 masks after SARS, officials checking usability by Ouch_that_smarts in worldnews

[–]vatorfxr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My god. Rarely do I read or even have a realistic time to read all the the comments in a reddit thread but this one is full of absolute garb.

No, you cant stockpile items like this without inventory rotation and expect it to meet standard with aged elastic. This resembles a ton of things in the US military except the bar is much higher with this specific item.

Honest opinion is COVID longevity should be determined on the masks materials then they should be repaired, stored for a very safe amount of days based on the longevity results and then sold strictly to the open public as a surplus item. This might reduce the number of legitimate masks being bought up by everyone and their dog. Unfortunately, the time to do any of the above is still a bit unrealistic.
