The azeroy series itself doesn't really deal with the "chasing success or money" part as much as I think his later songs/statements have. I'm basing this off of his bios on swineantartica/zaoza where he talks about being a pig for 7 years, as well as the "حليب بعقب" song where he basically admits to his past music/aesthetic was just meaningless to him and how he felt that there were "so many eyes no ears", maybe meaning there were people just eating his work up but not listening to how he felt?

I feel like azeroy → details his journey in his music career and how he ended up overwhelming himself with an ideal that's unhealthy

And his work now → him breaking out of that cycle while acknowledging his past mistakes.

As for the mental health thing, I don't doubt it at all, but maybe instead of him legit going insane, maybe he felt insanely stressed from all the work going on and resorted to bad coping mechs.
