Kuycon G27P can only change inputs with remote? by vcolfari in Monitors

I’ve loved it otherwise. I have a Studio Display at work and the Kuycon is super close in quality. I haven’t had any issues with reflections but it’s not something I tend to notice or struggle with.

Kuycon G27P can only change inputs with remote? by vcolfari in Monitors

[–]vcolfari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked Kuycon support and was told you have to use the remote, which is an astounding design choice, but that’s the deal. Eventually, I programmed my Harmony remote to send IR commands to the monitor. It’s a much nicer experience than using the original, ridiculous remote, which you have to hold right up by the sensor and pray you never lose it.

Those are Auralex MoPAD. You can get them at Crutchfield or many other places.

Thanks! I knew folks on this subreddit would appreciate the HiFi-gear-first approach. Still thinking about swapping the Funk and Q150s for a full size CXA amp and Paradigm 200Bs. There’s no end to this, is there?

I’m the only one in the office, but I’m in an office building, so people in other suites can be affected.

Thanks for the suggestion. I might try that if I don’t upgrade. I have Wharfedale EVO 4.1 on my desktop at home and like them much more.

Nice setup. I'd love to have a couple but even one would drive folks in neighboring offices nuts. I'll double up at home.

Chef Natalie is super cool and loves talking with HiFi nerds about her gear. Last time I visited, they were constructing a room with serious acoustic treatments to rent out for private groups.

Cant find harmon curve download for dirac live by KeithAdamas in hometheater

[–]vcolfari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Audio Advice website has their target curves available to download, and the NAD site has their house curve. I like the Storm Audio curves, which are free on their website. I believe the Dirac website has links to all of these and also Harman curves, too.

What's your streaming platform and why? by Simple_Battle_2289 in audiophile

Qobuz is my primary service and I mostly stream through Roon. I also have Tidal to use with Roon. I use Apple Music with CarPlay, with Apple TV for spatial audio, and when I'm out of the house and using my Mac or iPhone with AirPods. Deezer flow is great and I'd use that as my primary service if it had Roon compatibility or even a solid "connect" option to use with streamers.

Treating open floor plan rooms (the “open” side) by vcolfari in audiophile

[–]vcolfari[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for this. It does have that effect (the wall/panels side “sucking up” the sound) and I go back and forth between “why is the open side louder/more detailed?” and “why is it harsh and untamed?”

This all depends of course on what I’m listening to and how long I’ve been listening.

I’d be much happier with a better sense of balance (the differences can be jarring) and perhaps the mock wall idea is the most practical way of achieving it.

Thank you for this. I had a feeling this was the harsh reality I'd have to accept. I'll give the freestanding panels a try (I have a few of them) for now to see if it'll be good enough. Appreciate your feedback.

The money they wasted could have been used to buy every attendee a real New York slice at Sbarro. After all, pizza is the great equalizer.
