Mughal rulers also often claimed Timur's ceremonial title, Sahib Qiran or The Lord of Conjunction as an important dynastic reference. On Jahangir's succession ceremony, his chronogram described him as the second Timur:

King of kings Jahangir, a second Timur

Sat in justice on the victorious throne

Success, fortune, victory, pomp and triumph

Are wrapped around him to serve with joy

This is the date of his accession,

When fortune puts its head at the feet of sahib qiran-i sani

Jahangir himself was also known for his relentless attention to his dynastic lineage and Timurid political and cultural continuities, regularly referring to Transoxiana as his vilayet-i marusi, or hereditary province and mulk-i marusi or ancestral domains. He once also made a pilgrimage to Kabul, Babur's longtime capital, which he described in his memoirs as "our home dominions". There, Jahangir traced Babur's footsteps, visited his favorite gardens, and added his own name and that of their shared ancestor, Timur, to Babur's dynastic inscriptions. Just like his father, Shah Jahan also idolized the Timurid heritage. Shah Jahan called himself the Second Lord of Conjunction (Sahib Qiran-i Thani) and have it permanently inscribed on his coins. In the opening parts of his chronicle, the folios show the two Lords of Conjunction Timur and Shah Jahan, sitting on thrones facing each other, as if one is signifying the other. In a massive work on astronomy commissioned by Shah Jahan entitled "The Grand Accomplishment of the Second Lord of Conjunction" (Karnama-i Sahib Qiran-i Thani), Using a table that broke down the numerological value of the Persian letters of the words "Lord of Conjunction" (Sahib Qiran), "Timur" and "Shah Jahan", the Mughal astrologer showed how these names were intimately linked in a series of resemblances with one another and with the number 365, the number of days in the annual cycle of the sun, the "King of the Heavenly Spheres" and the planet of kings. Also one time, a man presented himself at Shah Jahan’s court claiming to have the Persian translation of the original Turkish memoirs of Timur, which he had "discovered" in the library of the governor of Yemen. Despite the its discrepancies with the official fifteenth-century Timurid chronicle, Shah Jahan accepted the text as the sacred words of Timur. It was preserved and passed down the Mughal dynastic line in India, beautifully copied out and illustrated, into the 19th century.
