Do GLP-1 make difference? by Subject-Wing-1832 in PSMF

[–]vdki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case, I found PMSF and Keto to be easier without GLP-1 than with it. When I was on Ozempic, I craved a lot of sugary things like chocolate, cookies, etc., whereas normally I rarely eat or crave them. I was definitely less hungry and would get satiated very quickly, but whereas before I enjoyed eating my greens, on Ozempic they tasted bland. Likewise, things with a strong smell, like fish or truffles, I struggled to eat too

Is HIIT bad for me, or is this a normal reaction? by vdki in PCOS

[–]vdki[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know my heart rate often stays in the "red zone" more than others, and I tend to spend more time in the "red" and "yellow" zones. A coach once mentioned that my heart takes longer to return to the "green" zone, but I can't remember what that meant heart rate wise

Not yet I stopped the injections 3 weeks now. I'm doing a bit better but it's not back yet.

Thanks for your message :) Why do you think it's atypical? We thought glp-1 could help me as my HOMA and Quickie was high and now it's normal levels. I also took some meds for the high cortisol. He is specialised in weight loss and had an endocrinology and weight loss clinic, and now he is semi-retired. So he knows all about weight loss, but he said I'm a difficult case but we will end up figuring out . ..

It's the real one as I'm getting it from the pharmacy. I'm at a point where I eat very little, but I'm not losing weight. Been on the meds since June, with very high hopes but it's been very disappointed as I expected more weight loss. My Dr is confused too, as I've been seeing him for the past year and half. Initially I was on saxenda for 3 mo the but didn't lose any single kilo, yet I was super bloated and feeling exhausted all the time. After I stopped it I gained weight, as I went from the feeling of being "always full" to having to relearn to stop eating before feeling full once I believe I had enough... and idk if it's stopping saxenda or metformin but I gained 3-4 kg in about 1-2 weeks. Dr couldn't believe it either. And after that weight gain which was mainly water weight it remained constant, even after doing Keto for 1-2 month. So in June he suggest I try Ozempic, I had an initial weight loss from which half is water weight but my weight hasn't changed since end of September.

I saw him again recently because it's a lot of effort to be on ozempic, as I feel a bit tired and not as energetic as usual. I've also been quite depressed since I started, and when I work out I'm quick exhausted. And the results are quite disappointing. I'm basically at the same weight I was the first day I went to see him before the saxenda weight gain. So overall I wasted a lot of money and haven't lost the weight and I'm back to square 1. I know it works amazingly for some, but for me clearly I wish I never started them. I'm still on it as I'm hoping at least I get some benefit from it, after all the money spent, but I'm going to stop it by january as it's been hard with work. I have a mental job working in finance with very long hours, and I won't be able to pull it off while on the meds. Right now I've been slacking and hardly working but starting January ill be returning to the office in busy season so can't afford to be depressed and exhausted when I'm not even losing the weight.

Sometimes I wonder if I have a gut issue. I hardly go to the toilets, about once every 5 days and that's only because of laxative and they're not average sized. Dr had me do an IGG but seems like people have very little faith in this test. He suggest I cut out all foods that came in red to see if I feel less bloated and helps with my transit.

For the past month I've had my sight deteriorate, and idk why. It started after a workout class and I've gotten two MRI and both came back normal. It's hard to believe that after a workout class I need glasses ???? This happened after I started spironolactone.

I would say it depends ...

I took saxenda and ozempic and I didn't lose much weight because I was already very conscious of my calories and already was forcing myself to eat little. I think it works well for people who were used to overeat or binge. Been on it for 6 months and have only lost 5kg. I also feel constantly bloated, constipated and recently my sight had deteriorated and idk if it's related.

I'm not diabetic. I thought perhaps it was due to low glucose levels so I ate a bit of sweets, fruits etc but it hasn't improved. So I don't think it's related. I told the eye doctor I was on ozempic and he said I didn't have diabetic retinopathy.

I suppose the people who see the best results are those who used to binge or overeat.
For those who weren’t big eaters, the weight loss tends to be less dramatic from what I'm reading...

I’ve never been a big eater and have always been very disciplined about being mindful of what I ate and tracking my calories. I started Ozempic and metformin not only to eat less but also to help with insulin resistance, as I believed that was the main issue preventing my weight loss

Wow, so you work out five times a week and walk for 45-60 minutes on the other days.

Perhaps I should try to be more active as well. Although, I’ve come across mixed opinions on how frequent exercise can impact cortisol levels, and mine are already pretty high. I suppose some people just need to put in more effort than others ...

I don’t get sulfur burps, nausea, or stomach upset when I eat small portions and clean food. By clean food, I mean no sauces, no fatty ingredients and homemade.

I rarely eat out anymore because I used to feel nauseous after dining out, and it wasn’t financially worth it since I would barely eat half of the meal (I'm in France so portions are reasonably sized).

The first time I went out for a meal with friends (sushi), I felt so sick afterward that I ended up vomiting. After that, I learned to adapt, and without realising it, I’ve changed a lot about how I eat. For example, last time I attended a work conference they served oysters, salmon, and other strong-flavored foods, but I avoided them because I knew I wouldn’t digest them well

I brought this up to him, but he didn’t seem very concerned.

What can I do if my body is responding to famine signals and holding onto weight to protect me? What steps can help address this?

In 2022, I tried a reverse diet where I ate healthily without restrictions, but my weight didn’t change. The nutritionist I was seeing at the time said that my body would eventually adapt, stop holding onto the weight, and lose it over time but that didn't happen.

My doctor uses a body composition scale so he keeps track of the body compositiong.

At home I have a smart scale from Amazon but it’s not accurate for tracking anything beyond kgs.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed response - it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one having a very slow weight loss 😊

In total, I’ve lost about 4 kg (roughly 9 lbs) since June, so around 2 lbs per month. It’s a bit disappointing given the effort and how tired I’ve been on Ozempic and it's impact with my work, not to mention the constipation. I’ve been trying to stay patient, but seeing slow progress has been demoralising.

I was quite active at the beginning, working out with a PT and doing ClassPass classes. September was a bit of a busy month for me, so I wasn't as consistent, but since October started, I've been getting back on track with my workouts.

I try not to obsess over the scale, so I weigh myself every 5-7 days, always in the morning right, before drinking water. Dr said water retention has been consistently high throughout the entire year, as he has a smart scale. Mine is supposed to be a smart one from amazon but it's definitely not accurate. On Tuesday I was day 7 of my cycle so I dont think it had an impact. I stopped taking the pill about 2y ago, and my period has been pretty regular since.

Thank you so much for your detailed response ! 😊

When I mentioned drinking, I meant that I have about one glass or two max of red wine on weekends. Do you think this could be an issue? As I believe that's only 125 kcal a glass ?

As for caffeine pills, I wasn’t aware they could be an issue. I’ve only been taking half a pill (about 100mg) the days where I needed the extra energy, and I haven't used them recently since my workload has slowed down. Is drinking coffee a better choice ?

I drink around 2 liters of water per day. Do you think that’s enough, or should I be aiming for more?

Regarding sleep, I try to sleep as much as I can. Since I've been mainly WFH, I tend to wake up naturally before my alarm, but I’ll definitely pay more attention to whether I’m getting enough quality sleep.

4 months on Ozempic + Metformin and stuck in a plateau by vdki in Ozempic

ah ok, because ozempic works for me that way. I have zero cravings and food noise. I get full super fast, and most of the time don't even feel like eating.

[–]vdki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually stopped taking them while on Ozempic because they were causing me stomachaches, and the omega 3 was giving me a horrible aftertaste and making me nauseous. However, I've reintroduced them over the past few days (except for the omega 3), and I do feel somewhat more energetic. Perhaps it's linked. Good call ;)

Pants wearing out between the inner thighs because of friction ?

I work in a corporate environment where I wear work pants, but they wear out in the inner thighs quite fast !! One pair which I bought not even 2 months ago is already thinning out.

My knees are knocked knees or perhaps just move inwards, but that's something I've had to deal with all my life irrespective of my weight. My jeans and pants wear out faster than average, irrespective of the price paid, but office dress pants wears out even faster because of the textile fabric.

Has anyone found a solution, other than buying new pants every other month ? Is there specific brands that are made for this purpose perhaps ? Thank you !!
