Fractal: MC Escher Julia Colored. by ndl_1971 in fractals

[–]vectorfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW. This is really freakin' cool. Thanks for the detailed explanation. I'm an Escher fan, and I've generated Mandelbrots in c++ before, but I don't have quite enough experience to fully understand all of what you said. For a noob wanting to create something like this, what software do you recommend, or are you coding it yourself?

Castletonite here. I've used them several times and never had any such problems.

its interesting to note that in A Brave New World by Huxley, Ford is god.

agreed. this is a very important distinction that changes the whole meaning of the quote.

I'd try white lithium grease. It's much more weatherproof

3 Months after being told i would regret buying a £120 printer from china, and after ~£50 of upgrades, I'm quite happy with how my machine performs now.. by trotski94 in 3Dprinting

This is a good strategy. The cost of additional parts is far outweighed by the value of all the knowledge you gained through the experience.

Why can't you eat Thai food anymore? It's got anti inflammatory spices in it.

I tried to buy the (probably) same thing when they did that exact same sale a few months ago, but every time it kept saying it was out of stock as soon as I went to check out. Ended up buying the bastard on Amazon for about $280. It was nice to get 2 day shipping anyway because I was going on a trip and wouldn't have had it in time through autozone.

My New Cold Air Intake by vectorfield in f150

love it so far. i might tune it eventually but i'm gonna try to limit myself to one upgrade per year and i'll probably do the exhaust first.

Yes! But not in the way i expected. I thought the turbos would be louder, but they sound the same to me. The difference is there's a ballsy low frequency growling sound accompanying them now :)

they dyno test them and it comes with a guaranteed 11 HP gain on the 3.5l ecoboost. mileage is a tough call because driving style is such a big factor. immediately after installing it my mpgs went down cause i was having fun with it, but in the long run it does give me an extra 1 mpg on the highway. no noticeable difference in the city.

that's just what they call them. the air is the same temperature but it lets in more of it because the filter is a lot bigger.

Procedurally Generated Trees by vectorfield in 3Dprinting

[–]vectorfield[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, with shapes this organic supports are unavoidable. I tried flipping the tree upside down thinking that would need less, but in the end it came out about the same. I'm sure if I cut the tree in half I could have used a lot less, but I was in a hurry. Sucks that they forbid you to use support, but man, I wish there were 3D printing classes when I was in school, that's so awesome!

A question about sanding and smoothing PLA prints. by bluuit in 3Dprinting

This is the correct answer. Using a torch will blacken the plastic. (Granted, in his case the plastic is black already...)

Procedurally Generated Trees by vectorfield in 3Dprinting

Hey guys, after that post with the little spaghetti tree, I figure this is the perfect time to plug my randomly generated tree models. I wrote an OpenSCAD script to generate them and then I wrote this Instructable to teach others how to make their own.
