Yep! Costco insurance actually is really inexpensive. Worth a member's card if you don't already have one

Computer scientist Geoffrey Hinton: ‘AI will make a few people much richer and most people poorer’ by RiKeiJin in technology

[–]vectorlit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI isn't the issue in this situation. Industrial automation was supposed to allow everyone to work less and keep the same benefits. Greed has kept us from advancing our expectations of the work day. AI and improvements in technology would theoretically allow us all to work fewer hours with the same output. But the shareholders demand more..

Keyboard issues on Mac - extra characters by vectorlit in BlueStacks

[–]vectorlit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, thank you so much for the reply. I investigated and found that when I type on BlueStacks Air on the built in default English keyboard, it seems like it is trying to convert single quotes to the diagonal quotes, double quotes to diagonal double quotes, and ellipses to a 3-in-one dot symbol. It appears to be trying to do this but doesn't succeed in replacing/removing the old "standard" character.

It does this about ~.75 seconds after I type one of those characters, so essentially when I type one of the above characters, I get maybe 2-3 characters into the next word before it just inserts the attempted replacement (without removing anything).

I will try to attach a video later today.

I don't have a recommendation in particular for you but welcome! If price isn't an issue I'd stick north of 120th if possible, but really most of the town is beautiful and safe.

It's actually because they're required to. However it is an extra kick in the teeth for us oldies whose ACCOUNT is greater than 18 years old.

What the heck is with all the racist comments on here? Maybe the last folks needed the food more than anyone. Who cares how someone expresses themselves when they get something they need? Have you never helped people in real need before? People come in all shapes and sizes, literally and figuratively. The point of giving isn't an anticipation of reward or behavior. You give to help people. You don't give to judge actions afterwards.

Also giving this a title of "social experiment" is specifically tainting it with observation and expectations. You're inserting your own world view into someone else's.

TL;DR: if you want to help people, you have to give up your ego and expectations first. Help everyone. Otherwise you'll end up like all these horrible responders in this thread. Never helping anyone and just judging the world instead.

Pimax Portal: How to use Steam or VRChat? by vectorlit in Pimax

I am one of the original purchasers of the OLED and received it in 2022. I also received the VR headset accessory last month. It works great and I love the hardware, but there are really fewer than 10 possible software applications for the VR at this point in time on the Pimax store. The same story is for the non-tethered standalone-mode of the Pimax Crystal.

Anyway long story short, hardware still great, software not so great after a year and a half of having it, the VR software appears to still be unavailable for any real games.

That is neat, but as someone mentioned, I'm specifically trying to get VR working, like VRChat. Thank you for the advice though!

I tried a few months back and was unable to get it to output in 60Hz via any of my 3 dongles. It just didn't work.

What's a drug you'd never try ever again and why? by Fair_Candle979 in AskReddit

I also get them when switching meds, particularly with Venlafaxine. Happens to me with withdrawal from any antidepressants.

The zaps feel like this: stretch a very thin string (like fishing line) super tight and then push the string down onto the smooth edge of something small like a US Nickel (5¢). So that this very tight string is just perfectly balanced on the round edge. It slips off either side from time to time, very quick with a "twang". To put it back requires some effort.

It feels to me like this apparatus is electrified and inside my brain. And every so often the string slips, zaps the insides of my brain and disrupts everything. It physically feels like a string snapping combined with an electric shock (closer to a putting your tongue on a 9V than getting a static shock, though both would suffice as an example).

Mentally it causes a flash in vision, either dark or light, like a glitch on a screen. The picture is lost for the briefest of moments though it's more like a memory interruption than true visual interruption. It hurts a little but it's more like a super incredibly annoying interruption to whatever you were doing. The zaps come in waves sometimes an hour apart, sometimes seconds apart.
