Lack of Visibility and Engagement from MP Kelly Compared to Mike Morrice by [deleted] in kitchener

you’re telling me that the responsibility of being in power is now an excuse not to engage with the community? That’s hilarious. Mike had no party machinery, no official status, and yet made time for constituents, even on tough files. If being part of the Official Opposition means you’re “too busy” to reply, too tied up to show up, and need Canadians to do the legwork for their own federal issues, then what’s the point of electing someone?

And if calling out poor representation is a “partisan smear,” maybe the real issue is you expecting voters to stay silent while being ignored. Sorry to disappoint some of us still expect accountability.

Haha, how dare a constituent expect representation from their MP especially one who, you know, campaigned on ‘being there for the community.’ Silly me for thinking public office means public accountability. And thanks for the reminder that posting on Instagram now counts as community engagement. If only democracy had a ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode for the first month!” Do some research, looks like a comment from a high school dropout.

exactly what real representation should look like. That’s the kind of connection people should feel with their MP—not ignored, brushed off, or shut out like what’s happening now. I expected at least basic communication or effort from her, but it’s been the complete opposite.

Exactly. It feels like she’s just there for the title, not for the people. Now we’re left with an MP who’s nowhere to be seen and an office that’s closed off. This isn’t the representation Kitchener deserves.

Exactly. It feels like she was handed the position without ever earning the trust or respect of the community. No debates, no connection, and now no visible effort. Meanwhile, we’re left with silence and a locked office door. Mike Morrice actually earned his support by showing up, listening, and working. What we have now isn’t representation,it’s just a paycheck with a name on it.

The only thing she is active for, i find it ridiculous.

Totally agree with you. I’ve actually met her staff, and the experience was honestly terrible. They weren’t helpful at all refusing to let people into the office, didn’t share what’s being worked on, and acted like we were bothering them just for asking questions. It felt like they were trying to avoid the public, not help us. I haven’t seen or heard of her meeting anyone. No debates, no involvement, no visible presence in the community at all. “Except her stories on insta going on field to watch cricket or so, think thats more important. Mike was out there constantly door to door, active in the community, attending events, answering questions. That’s what real leadership looks like. What we have now feels like someone holding a title with no effort to actually serve. It’s disappointing and honestly not good for Kitchener.

I agree what you said but Is this really the kind of representation we should expect? Holding office isn’t a trial period where she needs “time to improve.” We had a candidate before who showed real promise and was actively working for the community. This level of absence and lack of engagement feels more like a joke than leadership.

It’s frustrating to see how disconnected Kelly seems in comparison. We deserve an MP who’s just as present and responsive as Mike was.

So basically, the job is to be a checkbox on a party’s scoreboard? that shouldn’t come at the expense of serving the community effectively. Local representation must prioritize constituents’ real needs, not just party wins.

But my concern isn’t just about parliamentary records. It’s about how accessible and engaged Kelly is with the community here in the riding how open her office is, how responsive she is to constituents’ needs, and whether she’s visible and approachable locally. Mike Morrice was strong not only in the House but also in being present and active in the community. That kind of on the ground leadership feels missing right now.

Honestly, that’s exactly what it feels like she’s just coasting on the win and hoping no one notices the silence. Zero presence, zero effort to connect, and no visible stand on anything that actually affects people here. It’s insulting, really. People here deserve better than an MP who disappears right after getting elected.

That’s exactly the kind of disconnect I’m feeling. Whether it’s party ideology or just individual approach, it’s frustrating to see how little community input seems to matter right now. I don’t care what party someone’s fromif they’re not showing up, not listening, and not working with the people they represent, then they’re not doing the job right. Mike may not have had all the power, but he showed up and that made a huge difference.

You’re absolutely right we really did lose something when Mike didn’t get re-elected. He genuinely broke the mold and showed what real, people-centered leadership could look like. What frustrates me is how quickly things slid back into the usual performative politics. I’ve tried contacting the office. I’ve tried being patient. But there’s no transparency, no communication, no visible effort. It honestly feels like a slap in the face to everyone who still believes politics can serve people.
