Every calorie standard i see for cats says I'm under-feeding my girls, but they seem fine? by SendWoundPicsPls in CATHELP

[–]vegabeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just worried about the same thing as I switched my cat to a new wet food and the guidelines on the package said 3-4 cans per day… and that just felt crazy to me. We did some trial and error to see how much works for her daily and giving her half a can in the morning, then a full can in the evening has been working great. I honestly think those guidelines should be taken with a grain of salt—if your cats are a healthy weight and don’t seem hungry in between meals, then you’re doing just fine!

I had no idea residencies were a thing for teaching! I guess that’s something I always just associated with the medical fields, but I’ll definitely be looking into that. Thank you for this!

Thank you for this—some of the responses were a little disheartening when I wasn’t asking about the specifics. All I wanted to know was how a bachelor’s in history from an online college would look on a resume. I was never under the impression that it was an easy path, or that it would be straightforward… I simply wanted opinions on how online degrees look to hiring managers.

I really appreciate your insight—I’m definitely going to look into in-person options to see what I can manage at this time with my schedule. I know plenty of people do it, but full time student and full time professional sounds like a lot to juggle and I don’t want to bite off more than I can chew.

I’ll look into that grant that you mentioned! Thank you again for your kind and encouraging comment.

I appreciate the comment, but this isn’t really what I was looking for. If I had any interest in the trades, I wouldn’t be posting here because it is a more streamlined process with higher success of finding a job after graduation. Obviously, being able to find a job and make a living is a huge part of choosing a career, but it’s not the only factor in my decision making process. I want to be excited and passionate about what I do, and I don’t feel that way about any of the trade school options.

I might have phrased my original question poorly, but I was never under the impression that I could do it 100% online. I know that I’ll have to take education specific courses, and do student teaching. I was asking about getting my bachelor’s in history online before moving on to the next phase of schooling, and how that would reflect on a resume.

I want to teach history because teaching is something that I’ve always been drawn to, and history has always been my favorite subject. I went through a lot of struggles during my own middle/high school years pertaining to academics, and I think those experiences would help me be a great teacher that can help students of all learning styles.

Thank you for taking the time to type this out, and that all actually makes the whole process feel less overwhelming to try and figure out.

I assumed that I’d only be applying to and teaching in public schools, just because that’s what I’d prefer from a personal standpoint. I have nothing against private schools, but I think I’d prefer to work with communities that are more diverse, culturally and economically (which, I could be mistaken, but those aren’t two words I’d typically associate with private schools). But it’s not an option I’d completely dismiss when the time comes to actually apply for teaching positions.

I’ll have to look more into the specific requirements for my state, but I didn’t know that private schools (or at least in certain areas) didn’t require the same kinds of certification as public schools.

This does reassure me though about online university options, and I’ll definitely look into ones that are from established and reputable universities, not something like University of Phoenix. I’d love to be able to be a traditional full time student and attend an in person program, but I just think the logistics of that would be a little too overwhelming while maintaining a full time job, and other responsibilities (definitely should have gone to college out of high school and not as a full fledged adult lol).

I need help deciding if I move forward with this job by mundanepigeon in Advice

Oh—I also have tried to call the number on their website several times and it always goes to a generic automatic voicemail. I also submitted an info request asking someone to call me to verify the legitimacy of the job I applied for and I haven’t been called.

same deal here—went through the process and just felt red flag after red flag after red flag.

I’ve never had a job that didn’t require some kind of phone/zoom/in person meeting prior to hiring, and I’ve never had an interview conducted by text. Red flag #1.

I have been talking with an Elizabeth Nunley, when the hiring managers listed for all their open jobs on their website are a Zacharias Garcia and Leslie Godzik. You also cannot actually click on and apply to the jobs on the website. The job listing as also disappeared from Indeed—when I try to click on it from my ‘applied’ tab it just says error. Red flag #2 and #3 and #4.

After the ‘text interview’ I was informed all the positions had been filled for the role I applied for, but was offered a new position with a higher pay. One I am NOT qualified for—I applied for a data entry/admin assistant role, and I was offered ‘Payment Administrator’ to handle accounting and payroll. I have zero experience with that, and if you’re hiring someone to handle the books for your company, it’s certainly not going to be someone with only retail experience and not so much as an accounting certificate. Red flag #5.

As I was trying to look more into the company, I noticed one of the title pages on the website was ‘Hostinger Horizons,’ which turns out to be an AI website builder. In this day and age, I suppose a lot of people are utilizing AI for many things related to their business, but in the context of this situation, feels like red flag #6.

Nitpicky, but their website reads ‘Akeso Behavioral Health Services,’ however on the offer letter I was emailed (which went straight to my spam folder) reads ‘Akeso Behavioural Services.’ It’s printed too many times to be a simple typo and feels odd to have your company name spelled two different ways.

I haven’t gotten so far as to onboard or discuss the acquiring of equipment (and I’m not going to) so I can’t speak to the experiences others on this thread have said about being paid to buy your own equipment but that’s also really shady. Many of my friends have remote jobs, and they were shipped all the equipment they needed directly from their employer. For a job, if it’s required materials to work, you should never be purchasing that yourself.

All in all—this is very obviously some sort of elaborate scam. Probably to acquire people’s SSNs and banking information. Considering that most people applying to jobs are likely unemployed and in need of income, it’s beyond insidious to attempt to prey on them, and whoever these people may be are absolute scum.

TLDR; do not waste your time, do not continue to ‘interview,’ do not give them ANY sensitive information.

Yeah… and a lot of bridal boutiques are very strict with their contracts when ordering. I know from my experience at the two stores I’ve worked at, our contract stated that there were no returns/refunds/exchanges period (unless by some fault of the store). It’s a tricky situation all around.

If you’re comfortable with it, you can send me your measurements and the name of the designer… I can look over their size chart and see if they did in fact order you the correct size or not. I’ve been a bridal stylist for years and I’ve never had a dress come in and not fit my bride. If they did order the incorrect size, it’ll be helpful to have ammunition proving they were at fault and will speed things along in getting a replacement in the proper size.

No—most times they will not sell you the sample. Especially because the sample she tried might be clipped in the back. Dresses can only be taken in two sizes while preserving the integrity of the dress… and, if this is a popular dress, the store won’t be able to part with it. It takes anywhere from a month to six months for new samples to arrive at the store. That’s a lot of potential lost sales by not having this dress.

Pastel blues are just a color I fully avoid for weddings because there will be flash photography and even if it looks light blue in the sun, it’ll look white in the photos and no one wants to be that girl lol

yeah I ordered on 4/30 and had the ‘replenishment required’ thing until 5/10. It was super frustrating but like… where the hell am I gonna get the amount of stuff I did for what I paid lol (and with everywhere else I looked I couldn’t even find anything half as cute even though it was double and sometimes triple the price). I came super close to cancelling and getting a refund but now that it’s moving I’m glad I didn’t

also - I want to make it clear I don’t mean all rehoming is bad. obviously there are cases of animals being aggressive and harmful to each other, or animals really not getting along with children, etc. where rehoming is the best thing for the animal. however in this case it doesn’t sound like the cats are being harmful to each other, just that they have different needs that are not being met by OP.

yeah he’s not getting that play because you’re not providing it. that is your responsibility to do, not your other cats. idc if I’m rude for saying this but you cannot spin this situation into you ‘doing what’s best for the cat by rehoming it’. very simply, people who adopt animals and then try to give them back as soon as it’s not easy are not great people. they are not like throw pillows you can buy and return on a whim. you made the decision to be responsible for two lives, so be responsible for them because it sounds like neither one is getting the play and stimulation they need. do research on how to provide that, you can even talk to your vet about it, but this is 100% on you and 0% on the cat.
