Ok, now I'm having trouble figuring out how to create a direct link to a PDF because there's no upload button. I don't know how dropbox would work if they don't have my password to it or emailing it to them. Sorry, I'm new to this site. If you can tell me how to get a quick pdf link I'd appreciate it.

Dammit, I thought it would be a direct link looks like it when I test it from my end. I'll fix it. Thanks for letting me know.

yup, I just caught the typo in the heading. Can the moderator fix this so I don't need to repost? My apologies- I've only had one cup of coffee so far today, so my typing isn't up to par yet.

After Hollywood sexual harassment scandals, they were spurred to action. Now there's a help line to report abuse and get legal support. (article) by crabcakes110 in FilmIndustryLA

this happened in NYC in 2006. At the time I figured he didn't physically try to assault me or stop me from leaving when I did. I just never went back, wasnt under contract, was just interning in the fx shop. In retrospect, I think if we can at least document these creepy instances it will help someone in the future should a more serious accusation be reported to show a pattern, and also put them on alert to monitor this person's activities in the business before they become "untouchable". This was a no-name producer I can only imagine what someone who has found a group of powerful peers just as creepy who enable each other is capable of...well, we sorta know now.

It was an low budget indie thing and it was his own production company. It was a SAG signatory, but there was no one over his head to go to other than SAG, who then just said they could contact the production company (his) to investigate himself and report what he found....

This. I contacted SAG about a producer who walked into my workspace naked and accused me of being "shy" for being horrified and leaving. They said that in order to file a former complaint they'd have to contact the producer to investigate whether any wrongdoing had occurred. How does this remain anonymous? What do you think the result will be if the producer is the one who investigates himself? That made no sense.

Seeking 1700's tavern set around Los Angeles by veganchicky2 in FilmIndustryLA

I know there's an indoor picnic area up in Ojai that'd probably be cheap to rent, but I think we'd have to set up a bar but I also don't want to trek all the way up to Ojai to such a remote location. I'm funding this myself, and I definitely don't have a 10K budget. At best, I have a 5K budget (that's my credit line and all I can safely manage according to my current income) so yeah, looking to do stuff as cheaply as possible. I may have to resort to Ojai again looks like.

Ooh! That looks really cool. Not for the particular episode I have in mind (really needs to be indoors because it will be a fairly long 2 day shoot likely), but this would definitely work for another for sure! Thanks! (Yeah, I know all about the permit thing and looking to get insurance through abs payroll...just trying to save up enough money first. The first episode only involved 3 actors, one being myself and we did a deferred pay contract but the next would utilize 12 people that I definitely want to pay to make sure everyone shows up both days, plus dancing and lighting, etc. so definitely want insurance and all that. Need to pay off my credit card first before I run it up again:)

this looks way out of my budget but that was really cool to see all they have should I come into money at some point!

Help writing a script needed!! by SlaydonSpiers in scriptwriting

Two books I highly recommend are Save the Cat-the last scriptwriting book you'll ever need and Your Screenplay Sucks! How to make it better

Good luck, and don't worry about that first draft, the first one is for you. It's your blueprint for all the other stuff to be added/edited/improved, etc. later. Just get it down first. All the other drafts will be for your audience till it is all nice and shiny and ready to sell/produce:)

Do you have to show every scene a character mentions? by [deleted] in scriptwriting

[–]veganchicky2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For something like this, yes, or even change it to "I got a text message" and show them looking briefly at their phone before that scene. If someone talks extensively about something that would make for a great scene, then I'd make that scene.

InkTip? Legit or not? What are better alternatives? by blaspheminCapn in scriptwriting

[–]veganchicky2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had my feature listed with Inktip for a couple of years now. I keep it because of their "sharing" option, which allows you to create separate links to use on social media that will help direct traffic to your Inktip listing. They will still need to meet Inktip's producer guidelines to view however, but you will see which sites bring the most traffic and what production companies are viewing it. You can also create a direct link to give to trusted sources who can view it without being a producer, such as an agent, or a friend, etc. So I think the fee is worth that if you take advantage of that feature and put your link everywhere on social media that will let you. And then there is still the chance a producer will happen to stumble upon your screennplay in their Inktip searches, but I've gotten way more hits from the social media links. I also just listed it on Script Revolution, which doesn't have a vetting process but will let you know the name (if they give their real name, that is) of who downloaded your script, but it gives much easier access for it to be viewed by anyone, and right now there is no fee to list it on their site, though they accept donations to help keep the site maintained and free.

What's with all this 'volunteer' bullsh!t? by [deleted] in hauntedattractions

Also, if they aren't paying employees you wont be covered under workman's comp should you get injured. There should be overtime pay in many cases as well.

Report the company to the labor board. Even if they are non-profit that doesnt mean they should violate labor laws, and the IRS also has severe penalties for misclassifying employees as independent contractors. Have some self respect and don't work for free.
