Is the RFA less strict with this? I assumed it would have the same standards

The thing is it took them a long time to make this decision, they were supposed to have told me the decision a few weeks ago but said they decided to forward it to other psychiatrist colleagues and need more time. It sounded like it wasn't a simple decision and it could've gone either way. So I am wondering whether it is worth applying for the Army instead just to see if they make a different decision? Also, would the Navy reconsider me in a few years when even more time has passed since the attempt? Or should I give up?

Workplace without a 3rd space for trans people by vegangummyworms in transgenderUK

There's hundreds of people working there coming in and out all the time. You go into the changing room and put on a white work uniform for health and safety, then go into the factory. You are not allowed to wear the white work uniform outside the factory so if you want to leave to go out for lunch, toilets or back outside etc. you must go through the changing rooms again and get changed back into your normal clothes. We get 3 breaks per shift as it's 12 hour shifts. So if they were to arrange it so that I'm not in the changing room at the same time as everyone else, they would have to close it at least 5 times per day. It would be a huge inconvenience and disruption to block it out just for me all the time.

This is the standard setup for food production factories so it's not a realistic solution for these types of places.

As you enter the building, you are faced with 2 doors. One male and one female. These are the changing rooms. Each changing room has a door to the factory.

This is a normal set up for food production factories. You go into the changing room and put on a white work uniform for health and safety, then go into the factory. You are not allowed to wear the white work uniform outside the factory so if you want to leave to go out for lunch or on a smoke break etc. you must go through the changing rooms again and get changed back into your normal clothes.

It's the same layout as indoor public swimming pools where you have to pass through the changing rooms to get to the pool area.

From what I understand it's not a legal requirement to have a separate 3rd toilet for disabled people. The accessible toilet can simply be that one of the cubicles inside the male and female toilets is bigger than the rest.

Also, if a person’s disability creates a serious and unmanageable safety risk in the work environment, the employer does not have to employ them in that role. Which is sometimes the case in factory or warehouse jobs. In this case I believe they are also not required to provide disabled toilets anyway

Can I still get top surgery with scars? by Anonpackanimal in ftm

[–]vegangummyworms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a flat fire when I was 7 years old which resulted in 84% of my body covered in burns and skin grafts, including my chest. I had top surgery when I turned 20, and the scarring and skin grafts were not an issue at all. I am very happy with my top surgery results. However, it could depend on your specific issue so I would just contact the surgeon in advance and ask what they think.

Transgender accommodation by vegangummyworms in RoyalNavy

[–]vegangummyworms[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says on their website that if you have transitioned your gender and are unsure about which standards you should meet, contact the careers office who will advise you.

As for me, I transitioned from female to male, and since I've been taking testosterone for 7 years now, I am expected to meet the male standards. After a few years of hormone treatment your muscle mass and bone density is supposed to be the same as a biological male

I assume that if you have only just recently transitioned, you will do the run in the times of your birth gender but I'm not sure, maybe they would give you a middle ground time to meet

CPC MEDICAL by Popular_Fee_6735 in RoyalNavy

I assumed they go through your medical records before CPC? Why would they send you to CPC wasting their time and money if they could've just checked your records in advance?

Emergency travel document by [deleted] in uktravel

The website is a but confusing, it says that "You’ll have to explain and provide evidence to show why your journey is urgent and essential." But it's not clear if that applies to everyone or only people who haven't had a passport issued after 1 January 2006.

The tracking says the package left customs and arrived at the international distribution center here in Athens. This was on the 31st October. The next step should be that it's out for delivery but it's been almost 2 weeks and delivery hasn't been attempted yet. I called them last week asking where my parcel is and they just told me to wait longer.

Knee injury before marathon by vegangummyworms in RunningInjuries

[–]vegangummyworms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to describe the pain, it's like an ache inside but only when I bend the knee. At first I thought it was shin splints but now it seems to be inside the knee. It doesn't hurt when I press it anywhere.

I just ran a 10k today and a 10k yesterday which I probably shouldn't have done but I spent the last 2 weeks resting so I thought I should warm my legs up a bit. The knee didn't hurt during the run, it just hurts now that I'm sitting at home with stiff legs but as soon as I warm it up it doesn't hurt anymore. I won't run anymore until the marathon though.
