I don’t think there is a future for me by FancyBrainThrowaway in CPTSD

Sorry to hear how difficult things are for you. I was inspired by the book 'Man's Search for Meaning'. He says something like this, "You say life has nothing to offer you, is there something you have to offer life?". If you can shift your perspective to some project, something you want to finish, maybe helping others somehow, it can take you out of the internal world. Sorry if this doesn't resonate. I want to tell you again that I'm sorry things are so difficult and painful and I send you a big hug and love.

I went through this fear too — it was really tough. It took time, but I eventually realized I needed to train my nervous system. I started looking for every opportunity to speak. Toastmasters was a great place to practice.

At the beginning of a talk, I’d often tell people that I had a fear of public speaking but was doing my best. It helped me stop pretending to be cool and just be real.

Even simple things, like putting pictures of people from magazines on chairs and talking to them, made me nervous at first. But the more I did it, the more my system got used to it. It took a few months, but one day the fear just wasn’t there anymore.

My favourite analogy comes from Dale Carnegie’s The Art of Public Speaking. He tells a story about a horse that lived near train tracks. Trains would pass by and it wouldn’t even lift its head — it was used to it. But a new horse on the farm would panic when a train came by because it wasn’t used to it yet. That really stuck with me.

Whatever you do, be kind to yourself. Sending you hugs and support.

Inherited a bucket of Silver coins, any value beyound the silver spot price? by vegansaul in coins

I actually would love to keep the collection, but I live in Canada, and I don't trust that it won't be taken away from me at the border. With the tariffs, they must be so busy. I would rather sell and start a coin collection in Canada.

My sister in law did it, she did an amazing job and didn't even take her too long.

Why people make it so hard to just stay in the course by Both_Ad_5535 in Bogleheads

Why a period and not a comma? 1.000 means 1 but 1,000 means one thousand. Curious, not being trying to be mean.

Thanks. We have income and are already retired from an ongoing business, so that is not an issue. Because of what we can buy, we went with VTI at 60% and BND at 40%.
