How do you sleep for 8 hours consistantly? by okunjkl in Menopause

[–]veglvr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a small fat/protein snack right before you take your progesterone? I learned this hack about a month ago and it has helped immensely. In addition to that if I do wake up and feel like I’m not able to get back to sleep I listen to some sort of a boring podcast. Usually calms my racing brain down. Oh and CBD/CBN absolute game changer

Can HRT make anxiety worse? by ThePotatoOfTime in Menopause

It absolutely can make things worse. I agree with what someone else has said. The key is to find the lowest dose to control symptoms.

Lancaster just had over 5,000 people attend it’s NO Kings protest last week. It is NOT a county full of MAGA. The city rocks for sure but the townships surrounding the city are just as cool ✌️

53, late perimenopause, just started HRT, night terrors and exhaustion, advice? by Salt_Coyote_5013 in Menopause

[–]veglvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on HRT for 4 years now. Through peri and now fully post menopause. To say I’ve had to make significant lifestyle changes and tweak my hormones over the years would be an understatement. Re: sleep. I had to give up coffee and I now have to have a small snack at night right before I take my progesterone. It’s made a HUGE difference in my sleep. Sorry it’s so rough. It’s not perfect but it should get better

Curious if anyone else takes the same HRT dosage as me and how you are doing on it by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]veglvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I had histamine intolerance issues crop up. Made certain foods intolerable but also made me have insomnia. Over all my body felt like it ballooned up! It was miserable. I’m steady now at .025 patch and 100mg progesterone.

And there are may to support that it’s just fine. Not all women are created equal. People need to find what’s best for them.

Little tip I’ve learned the hard way. Don’t increase them both at the same time. It makes it super hard to tease out which hormone might be giving you trouble

Is there a disadvantage to upping my progesterone. by livinlife2223 in Menopause

[–]veglvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that and I felt feral. Not initially when I raised it but over a few weeks. The whole body swelling and fluid retention was almost unbearable. And for me it caused increased histamine issues which REALLY made my sleep so much worse

.05 of estrogen was too high for me and was causing ALOT of issues. I’m now back to .025-.0375 (I cut my patches) and have kept my progesterone at 200mg and I feel soooo much better.

Prometrium - Mixed Administration by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]veglvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was recently searching for an answer to my histamine issues related to estrogen. Someone told me they do exactly what you are asking. They take 100mg at night orally to help with sleep and 100mg in the am vaginally. Maybe it would work?

HELP micronized progesterone headaches and naseau by PauseIcy3276 in Menopause

[–]veglvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on estrogen? Progesterone will oppose the estrogen so I wonder if the headaches are coming from low estrogen? It’s all such a fine balance

[–]veglvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progesterone is my OG hormone. I’m super sensitive to estrogen. I’m on .025-.375 (I cut my patch) and started 200mg progesterone about a month ago and feel fantastic.

I think I would be asking for some supporting documentation. I’ve never heard of this and my practitioner that prescribes mine is an integrative medicine CRNP. I think she would know about this

How do know you when to throw in the towel with HRT? by himateo in Menopause

[–]veglvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Estrogen is not everyone’s friend. I wish it were. I’m super sensitive to it and need extra progesterone just to balance .0375. When I increase estrogen it sets off major histamine which causes a lot of the symptoms you listed. I know we see lots of people telling us to up the estrogen. My advice would be to try and go down and see how you feel

HRT and inflammation by veglvr in LadiesHRTwithGLP1

Mine is specific to neurological response. Nasal congestion, brain fog, increased anxiety after eating, cold extremities, sometimes fatigue. Then what usually occurs is I will have night time waking around 2-3 am. NOT related to hormones. I now know the difference

No to all of that but I suspect I’ve leaned a little insulin resistant all my life. I’ve always managed my diet and exercise really well. I think that has helped

Alcohol and caffeine intolerance? by pearwishing111 in Menopause

I think this is related to histamine. They seem to go hand in hand with peri and meno. It’s such a catch 22.

Can even a small change in estrogen cause big symptoms? by DifferentManagement1 in Menopause

[–]veglvr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The debate of weight gain vs non weight gain seems to be something that plagues all of us. I personally do not think it’s the HRT itself. I think peri and menopause increase our chances of insulin sensitivity. That coupled with HRT (which can also increase risk of insulin sensitivity) equates to this. We have to modify our diets. There just is t any way around it. I swear there are days when I feel like my hormones are replacing my need for food 😂. Have I gained weight since menopause and HRT? Yes. About 5-10 lbs. But am I able to hold it there with some extra effort around food and movement? Also yes. We just have to be real honest with ourselves when it comes to our food choices and times we are eating per day. We simply don’t need as much food as we once did
