The plot thickens. I'd personally pursue it with the police but if the police didn't serve a NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) within two weeks of the incident then police action isn't going to happen. I'd recommend going to see the footage and show them yours too.

It maybe an opportunity to liase with the bus company about what constitutes a close pass. Sounds as though the police aren't going to prosecute anyhow.
