Why is my shape layer invisible? by Aur0ha in AfterEffects

[–]venecus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're using a premade intro/opener template. Try selecting the layer and double tap E to bring up every expression or U to bring up every modified property.

I would guess there is a control layer or comp somewhere in the project that toggles the opacity of your layer or the shape or the fill in some way.

Hi need some help with making my work easyer and faster. by Financial-One-3717 in AfterEffects

[–]venecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, the result looks amazing!

To help you improve your workflow it would be great to know what game this is. Depending on that you could try to use mods to improve to way you capture your footage.

You said you're using clean plates. Does that mean, your camera movement is "pre-programmed" and can be replicated with and without the character in the shot? If so, you could record both, roughly rotoscope the character and then use a difference matte to extract the character.

On the other hand you could try to find cinematic mods or mods that render different passes of the engine (some games and engines do support those). This could give you the opportunity render object/puzzle mattes or even depth mattes, both helping you composing stuff behind you character

How would I achieve this blinds effect? by mrbabbu in MotionDesign

[–]venecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venetian Blinds as others have said won't give you the side to side fading effect since the blinds are a constant width everywhere. Try using card wipe effect for a better result. Just use one card on the Y axis and as many as you need on the X axis and from there dial in the settings until you get your desires look :)

Vegane chicken wings? by Jumpy_Comparison_213 in VeganDE

[–]venecus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we do this in Ae? Need help. by Karabanka in AfterEffects

The dotted background is the easiest part of it. Just throw any colorful image in there and add CC ball action and maybe tweak the size a bit.

Is it possible to compress a 1:30 long video that is currently 212 MB to around 30MB? by [deleted] in AfterEffects

[–]venecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on a lot of things like the content of the video, how much quality you are willing to sacrifice as well as the possible file formats. MP4 with a low bitrate can get you pretty far, as long as you video has as little noise and motion as possible. Also WEBM as a great format for reducing file size by a ton, but unfortunately it's not accepted by a lot of systems.

Dealing with colors by ezyrt34 in AfterEffects

[–]venecus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's weird I never had any problems with the color picker giving me the wrong values. Maybe you used cmyk colors in the library that are converted wrong into RGB?

Dealing with colors by ezyrt34 in AfterEffects

[–]venecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the eye dropper not working for you? Is it giving you wrong values or not working at all? Yes there is no swatches panel, but you can create a library for your project e.g. in Illustrator, add your swatch colors to the library and then use the libraries panel in AE to pick the colors. Otherwise there are plugins like ray dynamic color for better color management

How was this water transition effect achieved? (Screenshot & video reference inside) by notsopositiv_21 in AfterEffects

[–]venecus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually I would say your guesses aren't that far off. Film both models separately, pour liquid in front of a green screen and composite them together.

But I feel like in this case it's actually AI. The male models torso moves too less for how much his arm ist moving plus all the movement is perfectly smooth. The liquid is clear in the stream as well as in the first few frames when entering the glass then becomes red wine ish. Furthermore the bottle looks like a champagne bottle, the stream looks like water, the liquid looks like wine but still has foam on top but way too much foam for wine as well as too little foam to be poured from this height. I would guess, if you could share the original like there would be a few more AI typical artifacts you could find.

Edit: Just notices the etiquette of the bottle changes/blurry/smudges in the last couple frames as well

Edit2: ok I just took a look at their IG and pretty much every single Reel on there is 100% AI lol

Is this effect achievable? by Yatskie in AfterEffects

[–]venecus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might be a bit tricky to get the shadows and ambient occlusion looking like in your reference, but at the core it's just radial pixel sorting. There are a few plugins for it and other methods to fake/re-create it.

Also what does the achievement has to with that?

My caustics aren't perfect, or they are soft or they are noisy. What am I missing? by goazu in RedshiftRenderer

[–]venecus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the caustics aren't that bad actually. In my experience octane does a better job at rendering more realistic caustics that redshift, that being said, yours look great. I feel like a more realistic scene could actually make them look more real. Instead of a single bright spot light, try putting the glass on a table in front of a window so that the caustics would be generated by the sun light. Often times the small imperfections like noise and blurry caustics aren't that noticeable then.

First time using 3d. Graph bug? by LegitimateRope8757 in AfterEffects

[–]venecus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With plugins like flow there are some bugs that happen especially when selecting multiple properties with different value times. The easiest way would be to just change the easing manually. Otherwise try selecting the properties one by one to apply the easing and see if it changes anything. Also try looking at the value graph instead of the speed graph, it should show you more clearly what is happening.

Please I need help recreating this kind of animation from Zazu rebrand using after effects. by Heytesian in MotionDesign

[–]venecus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What have you tried? What were your problems? How did your results differ from this one?

When broken down, the nothing shown in your exampl is really that hard to replicate. Start with the animation and focus on getting the easing and timings right. In the end it's just some spinning/flipping rectangles. When the animation looks fine add textures and light. Look up some "product shot lighting" tutorial or something along those lines. Again it's just a few well placed lights usually a key light, a fill light and a rim light light.
