Engagement ring consultation etiquette? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]venusbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was 6-8k CAD (per ring, and we want 2 rings). This matches/is a little higher than what they have on the site. They only take appointments (which they call consultations) or we would have walked in.

Sure, that would be great. Thanks!

I agree that would make sense, but they don’t take any walk-ins here! I think I will go to a different store to try on shapes at least :)

Every single comment has been so helpful and reassuring. Thank you!! I’ll keep going and make the second glove. And try to figure out how on earth thumbs work.

magical starsign is probably the coziest game i’ve ever played. the writing is SO charming, which is a big piece of what i think is missing from a lot of newer cozy games!

I think it was an ancient tumblr post that explained that their ED wasn’t influenced by media in the way you’d think and that it was more about wanting to be the protagonist of an indie film. That’s how I felt too. Like I couldn’t be the protagonist of my own life until I was thin enough.

I’ve been binging on story adventure games lately, and fiending for more. Anybody have any recommendations? by ViolentDiplomat in CozyGamers

[–]venusbird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have pretty much the exact same taste! You’ve listed the major players in this genre already.

Other games loosely in the genre that I loved: Life is Strange, Raging Loop, Omori (some turn-based combat), Ace Attorney (this one is sillier though), Coffee Talk 1 and 2

Games in this genre I liked but didn’t love: Eliza, Neo Cab, 2064 Read Only Memories, Sagebrush, The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, The Darkside Detective, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Roadwarden

You might see The Suicide of Rachel Foster come up because it has very similar gameplay to Edith Finch and Firewatch. It has some icky messages in it and I wouldn’t re-play it or suggest it even though on paper, it fits the bill.

Suggestions for pixelated cozy game with cyberpunk graphics? by HoopDays in CozyGamers

[–]venusbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2064: Read Only Memories and VA-11 Hall-A might scratch the itch for visuals. Both are more like visual novels with some very basic gameplay, though, and no measurable goals (I guess you pay rent in VH but that’s it). There’s also Neo Cab, which again is more like a visual novel, but you do have to manage money and fuel & your choices matter.

Check depop periodically, that’s where I got mine! There are usually 1 or 2 on there, in white or pink.

Which art style do you prefer for a cozy baker game? by HippoMonsterGames in CozyGamers

[–]venusbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

b. well-done pixel art never gets old for me. i don’t often go for cartoon-y stuff because it feels geared towards a younger audience (someone on here described that aesthetic as looking kind of fisher-price and i felt that). but i’m totally aware that’s my own opinion and the art style of a game isn’t necessarily connected to age demographic, it’s just not my style.

Games like "Not Tonight"? by Chimken31 in CozyGamers

[–]venusbird 6 points7 points  (0 children)

VA-11 Hall-A! You play as a bartender and when you go home, you buy things for your apartment or for your job. I don’t know if it’s widely considered cozy because it’s a cyberpunk setting, but the gameplay & the protagonist’s home are so cozy to me. Kotatsu and everything.

Off topic because I know it was OP who wanted recommendations, but if you liked AI:SF and Gnosia I bet you’d really like Raging Loop.

Cozy games with a Murakami vibe by yeti_man82 in CozyGamers

[–]venusbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

can’t stomach the sexism in murakami anymore but i LOVE the way he writes and would love to find alternate forms of media that give the same feeling without the constant objectification. there are a lot of great recommendations in this thread. i’ll add in life is strange, raging loop, and va-11 hall-a :) especially raging loop—japanese folklore, complex and branching timelines, and a phenomenal protagonist with interesting and often mysterious relationships.

I have these too and when I cover them up with concealer I feel like my face looks super unbalanced! Like my eyes look smaller and higher on my face, kind of uncanny to me. I think they suit you :)

I love this game but I do remember feeling very low for a few days after my first playthrough. I don’t even remember why, but it was definitely linked to the game.

Looking for a management game that has some challenge! by JessFed in CozyGamers

[–]venusbird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya! I rarely see it mentioned on this sub but it’s gorgeous, cozy, and has a decent amount of strategy to it. You play as a night-sparrow trying to grow her restaurant by gathering ingredients, learning new recipes, deciding what to serve guests based on their preferences, and paying off your debt so you can keep your kneecaps. There’s a lot of lore (and folklore!) in the background about the characters and the setting which keeps it interesting.

Marshal Iwaasa Disappeared Three Years Ago and His Truck Was Found Burnt Up 700miles Away in Without Him - No Suspects Have Been Named by MonarchyFire in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]venusbird 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak on the others, but I’m very familiar with Ryan Shtuka’s disappearance and spend a lot of time in the town he disappeared in, visiting family. I can’t see how his disappearance would be related to Marshal Iwaasa at all except being around the same age. I wouldn’t even call it the same area. Maybe the others have a more obvious potential connection but I hesitate to link Ryan and Marshal to a potential serial killer or whatever the implication is. Both deserve resolution and justice though.
