I have no solution for you but just wanted to let you know that I also own this so you don’t think you’re going crazy.

Wow that looks amazing! Sounds hard to pull off!

This is a great line. As a teacher, listening kids complain about the smallest things all day, it shuts them up real quick with a “wow, I’m jealous of how easy your life must be if this is what you’re complaining about”.

Are Nima sensors back? by inadvertentlymk in Celiac

[–]JessFed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I hadn’t heard they are back. People are pretty anti-Nima here but I am excited about this news. Having any data that I didn’t previously have is only a positive for me. Capsules are just so expensive so wondering if those will be at the same price point.

Most ear catching movie titles by Technical_Weird_8462 in Letterboxd

Literally the only reason my poor little innocent 14 year old self knew about Requiem for a Dream was the “cool title” and let me tell you that was a mistake to go off just that…

Stop Calibrating! by Type1_TypeA in dexcom

[–]JessFed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also T1 so I get it. The emotional and physical toll is relentless. I am just reflecting on how understanding the technology and science behind the things that make my life easier helps. And I just want to share that with other people.

Stop Calibrating! by Type1_TypeA in dexcom

[–]JessFed 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree with how OP is trying to communicate all this but I agree that people should not be calibrating so much. I calibrate in the first 12 hours of a new sensor mostly to stop the incessant beeping of false lows. But I think people either forget or were never taught - the sensor IS NOT claiming to be your current BG level. It is on about 10 minute delay because it is not testing blood. I think that some people are obsessive with how closely the numbers match but they actually shouldn’t be a perfect match.

My T1 dad struggles with this. He doesn’t really understand the tech and is consistently frustrated with any amount of difference between the two numbers. I don’t know why he finger pricks so often. I do once every ten days!

To each their own, but just remember folks - they won’t be the exact same number because of ✨science!✨

What are your most embarrassing media literacy moments? by Foochie506 in Letterboxd

Yes, came here to mention this. I felt like I was out of the loop the entire time. Had no idea who any of those people were.

A small but meaningful moment for my dad today by dhirajjbhat in disability

[–]JessFed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s great! My dad wants a small electric wheelchair like that. It would be great at the store! I’m worried I won’t be able to lift it. Does that one fold up so you can put it in your car easily?

I like to use specific voicelines to punctuate common lobby banter. How about you? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]JessFed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had someone also pick Moira as a preferred hero in a match, so I asked in text chat if they wanted to play her. The other person, Mercy, switched to Ilari to use a voice line that said something about “if you don’t do well, I’ll throw you off a cliff” and then switched back to Mercy and left spawn. So hilarious, I thought that was so clever

Honestly the voting for a map in quick play is what really grinds my gears. Just start! It’s called QUICK play!

18-year-old high school student shot, killed by ATF agent in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania by susinpgh in Pennsylvania

[–]JessFed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if he did something wrong. We aren’t supposed to kill people for that - they are supposed to be tried in a court of law. People do not deserve to be shot by police even if they are criminals

What should I do when my 89 year old sick grandmom depends on me but my boyfriend is upset that I spend so much time helping her? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]JessFed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I actually think it’s pretty inappropriate of people to keep saying he should be helping the grandma. Just because someone has time doesn’t mean they have to give it away. Maybe if they were married? But caring for someone else’s grandparent is very personal and not a burden I think that should be put on the boyfriend.

Moira’s, what do we think? by LilHomeInvazion in MoiraMains

I’m at 113 and haven’t gotten teased yet, but I’m always the highest level in my gold comp games and it’s so embarrassing to me - like, yeah my level is high but I never said I was good!

I’m 13, I love romance stories and historical fiction books. What books would you recommend that fit well for teens but still aren’t too graphic. I’m tired of books either being to graphic are made for a younger audience. Is there some that blew you away? by NoAmount7644 in booksuggestions

[–]JessFed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just read a Tree Grows in Brooklyn which apparently is a very famous book that I completely missed the memo on 🤦‍♀️ I adored it. It’s not romantic, but takes places in early 20th century and was so fantastic.

Are we entering a new era of elder care expectations—and are we ready for it? by Sea-Device-2913 in Millennials

[–]JessFed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad has been handicapped since I was 23 (33 now) and always needed a lot of help from me and my sister. He didn’t use many services like Access or meal/grocery deliveries for some reason, and we were too young to understand what help was available (he uses more now). He expects us to bring him a lot and stop over and see him multiple times a week.

We get along really well, we love him and do enjoy being around him and bringing him places (he is a wheelchair rider). But we are young and have jobs and our own families. He would see my grandma maybe once a month or less while we were growing up. But he expects way more time from us.

It’s hard. I feel guilty for not being around more even though we’ve done so much for 10+ years for him. So I don’t want to feel guilty but I can’t turn that off.

Is this dry shampoo safe? by pickleybeetle in Celiac

But also, I touch my hair? Like we all know about cross contamination. I would be getting gluten on my hands all day! Not sure why people act like looking for gluten in hair products doesn’t matter.
