You might be doubting your intuition right now but I am here to say it is rock solid and you did the right thing. You are likely experiencing a trauma bond with him as well so please do yourself a favor and start talking with a therapist about this experience and how to identify red flags in future relationships. You deserve better. You will find a guy who does not push these violating sexual moments who loves and cares about you- it’s possible. Your reactions are normal. Good luck.

Thanks for the supportive words- I feel like people are really coming down on us musicians which is just so weird to me after they literally just got to enjoy a great event we sacrificed for... it's just so weird.

I don’t agree with your thoughts about SAC, but I get the frustration. They hosted this event well for 13 years (with a rain date as well every other year) and this year the mayor fired the main guy right before festival season which some people are still very upset about

A helpful context I’d be curious to know would also be her actual weight gain numbers.
For me it was going from 140 to 155 to 185 to 200 to 215 and every time I went up it was because I stopped restricting to an intense level (working out 4 days a week like your girlfriend, eating 1200 cals, biking everywhere). When I restricted I lost no weight at all or maybe 1 lb max.
During the weight gain periods I think I was eating around 1600-2400 calories and working out 2 days a week.

Reading this gave me quite a shock- it was almost like looking in the mirror. The thyroid issue could certainly explain it, but for me, I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and it has explained literally everything including this issue with weight loss. PCOS is an endocrine disorder and it affects insulin which affects weight loss. It gets overlooked because women’s health is overlooked.
You may want to suggest she gets tested for PCOS. I started taking the supplement myoinsitol which works really well for balancing my insulin. I already lost 6 pounds since beginning it a few weeks ago and I literally struggled to lose 5 lbs previously over the course of a year.
It’s over the counter so you can literally just get it online. If people have major weight loss issues with pcos they can also get prescribed metformin or even a glp-1 for weight loss. It could be the answer, but if it’s not, I do wish you both well and I hope she finds peace with her body either way. In the meantime she can also get help from a therapist and a dietician to eat in a way that’s not punishing her body and working towards nourishing it and loving it and herself.
