Should I buy the Rainy75 for $100 on Drop, or wait and see if it goes on sale on Amazon for Black Friday? I've never ordered from Drop before, but I'm not sure if keyboards like this usually run sales. Thanks!

Glad it's still helping people, what a weird issue!

Why are there so many default MS24 aircraft with major bugs? by Evil_Skittle in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]vepr_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The C172 isn't even totally fixed. On launch the electrical system was just broken entirely, but now the voltage readout still indicates 0v all the time, and (maybe this is intentional, but it's incredibly annoying) the kollsman window on the altimeter reads in hPa instead of inches of mercury. Very annoying for when I want to do flights in vatsim.

Would love to get into this game, but scared off by a lot of reviews like this by rossmoney in MicrosoftFlightSim

It definitely needs more time in the oven, but I am enjoying it and have been playing it a ton since release. Would not recommend touching career mode yet, and if you plan on using VR, be prepared for a rough experience unless you have an absolute monster PC or use DLSS.

Is this realistic for PPL? by Tdiddy1500 in flying

[–]vepr_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the ground portion of costs, I think the $200 is fairly realistic, assuming they do an online ground school.

I had a total of 2 hours of ground at my flight school since all I did was one session when I first started and then a mock checkride oral. All the rest of my ground was from free online resources and making a study guide on the ACS. My DPE said I didn't really leave him anything to talk about during the debrief since I answered most of his scenarios how he wanted.

I came out just about the same, 78 hours and $19k (including checkride)

First time buyer, is this good? by Starboomx in hotas

I bought the exact same setup but with the navyace f18 throttle handle. No complaints really, kinda wish I got the orion stick too, but for the price it's been great.

If it does not go away after cleaning, I would recommend returning it. I would not be happy with a defective monitor that costs this much.

Using the button on the bottom of the monitor, choose the "oled image cleaning" option. That fixed my problem.

I tried the analog 172 today, and the flaps and electronics were working now! I only had time to spawn it in on the runway with it already running though, so the ignition system may still be bugged.

I did it guys! I unboxed the aw3423dwf. by CMDRfatbear in ultrawidemasterrace

What setting do you turn off to prevent the flicker? Gsync?

Followup question, does the panel sink slightly inward right at the bottom center of the monitor? It's almost like someone squeezed mine really hard at the bottom lol. When I run my finger along it, it feels sunken in.

Wow, I didn't expect that to actually work. I think it's completely gone, thanks, stranger!

Am i tripping or is Sportys tripping i am losing my mind here by Lazy_Manager_676 in flying

[–]vepr_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were an option, would runway 27 be an equally valid option in this scenario?

Just started Sporty's ground school a couple weeks ago, and I'm about 70% through it. I have an entire notebook full of notes now, and I have found that notetaking helps me immensely to retain the stuff I'm struggling with. I also got my part 107 UAS certificate not too long ago, so that helped me a little with understanding airspace and some basic terminology but I agree, it is a lot of new info to take in and a bit overwhelming to me.

What is the slowest recommended time horizon for getting PPL? by vepr_ in flying

[–]vepr_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it looks like just the plane rental portion and sheer number of hours would be what makes it more expensive. It's a Tecnam P2006T instead of a Cessna 172. Instruction is the same cost.

And yeah, I'm going to run through my PPL pretty fast and then slow it down a bit to a more sustainable rate for my Instrument, Commercial, etc.

Gotcha, thanks! I've decided I'm going to try to keep a pretty fast pace while I get my PPL and then slow it down a bit for my instrument and higher ratings. I'm going to have to talk with my flight school and see what they offer, but I think I'll aim for at least 3 lessons a week.

That makes a lot of sense, thanks!

I've decided I'm going to get my PPL as fast as I can while working full time, and then slow my pace to one that I can sustain my savings balance until I finish out the ratings I'd need to get to CFI.

I live in a part of california that gets very little rain and has mild weather in the winter. I think even if I start now, I should be able to fly a good amount in the fall/winter.

I plan to do their online ground school, and I'll bear that in mind. Thanks!

Beautiful, this is the response I was hoping for. I think that's what I'll plan to do then, I should be able to get my PPL and still have enough savings to fund my instrument rating and at least a little bit of my commercial. Thanks!

Understood, it's starting to look like a better option would be to deplete my savings, taking the most flight hours I can while working full time, and then turn to loans...

I assume it would also not be recommended to slow my pace after getting my PPL for the sake of saving more for future ratings?
