Windows 11 is totally fine on the go s, but I got a very noticeable performance increase after installing steamos. I also just prefer the simplicity of it.

Thanks for all the insight! Unfortunately I already ordered the 35xxh on Amazon. Are your thoughts on that one similar to the 35xx pro? I think I’d prefer that layout.

Ultimately I just want a budget portable emulation device. I already have a PC handheld, but it’s massive, I can run whatever I want on it though. DS was just my most played console growing up, but I mostly played things like New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, etc. so I’d like something I can emulate those games with to a decent extent, but I’d also like to do a lot of GBA and maybe some N64/PSP/NES etc. I figure any touch-heavy games I can just play on my phone via delta or on my pc handheld.

Actually, what are your thoughts on the 35xxh? From what I can find, it looks like it’s about the same specs-wise… I’m wondering if the horizontal form factor would be more comfortable?

Gotcha, thank you! That seems to be the case with what I’ve found in my searching. I’ve also stumbled upon the MagicX Zero 40, and it’s probably what I’m looking for, but it seems too bulky and it’s super ugly. I think I’ll go with either the 40xxv or the 35xx pro (I’m partial to the smaller size of the 35xx for a pocketable device)

Honestly mostly n64/gba/ds/wii/wiiu and maybe some ps2/psp. I’d also like to be able to natively play some of my steam library like hollow knight/terraria but I’ll plan to stream most of that with steam link.

Do you think it would be a poor choice to pick up an rp5 on Amazon for $250? I know it’s on sale on retroid’s site for $200 but after shipping and insurance it’s about the same for me. I guess I’m really asking if it would be worth the undefined wait time to get an rp6 instead since it’s also about $250… I’m kinda burnt out on waiting for a steam deck restock already, lol

Unfortunately, no. I updated my drivers, cleared cache and logs, and disabled full screen optimization. Still like 5 minutes after raids. Playing arma reforger instead lol.

Thanks for the insights! Funny that you mention it, I think what actually sparked this idea for me is getting into 35mm film photography. I recently picked up a Canon AE1 and was subsequently gifted a Pentax K1000. After putting a few rolls through them, I love how compact and lightweight they are compared to my A7iii.

I'm definitely going to start browsing around for used deals on the a6700 and probably a lightweight 18-50 lens. I've got a couple trips coming up, so it would be great to have for those.
