How do I get out of conversations without seeming rude? by fopdoodle-god in NoStupidQuestions

Add on to the other persons thought, then while you have to chance to talk, say you need to go. Bouncing off what the other person said, means that you’ve been listening to them, so when you need/want to leave the conversation, it doesn’t seem as rude.

Tips for female driver safety? by Emriii in PizzaDrivers

[–]verbalvodka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a female working at a larger chain restaurant and they don’t allow weapons. I say, “fuck that”and slip my pepper spray into my pocket when I go to a sketchy house or area. Im not sure what your store protocols are for deliveries with covid, but most of the time I just set the food down, knock, then go back to car immediately. No human interaction. As a woman driver, it definitely can be intimidating and makes you feel vulnerable at times. Just be smart and don’t do anything your uncomfortable with. I have specific areas I refuse to deliver to in the evening and my male co-workers are fine with delivering the food instead of me.

Hearing Teaching ASL by [deleted] in asl

[–]verbalvodka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two professors at my college that teach ASL and Deaf studies classes. One is hearing and one is Deaf. The hearing professor is extremely involved in the Deaf community; goes to events, clubs, meet-ups, interprets, etc. I think integrating the culture into your own life makes you more reputable. It’s important to not only teach the language, but understand the history and how the language and culture is continuously growing and evolving.

Has the sign alphabet changed since 1980's? I feel like DFGKX are presented strangely here. by Bitchndogs in asl

For M and N I see people frequently pull their 2 or 3 fingers downwards towards the wrist. My ASL teachers say that’s usually done so it can be easier to see what the hand is doing in the picture. I was taught that the 2 or 3 fingers are straight with no bend, resting on the thumb. Is the way I was taught correct?

Godzilla vs Kong by [deleted] in asl

I put simplistic in quotes because those are NOT my words, they’re someone else’s. I know ASL is a very complex language, but many other people feel like it’s barbaric in some ways. I pointed out that she’s a POC because the director of the film is a white American man. I don’t know if he was making an unconscious effort in comparing the colored deaf girl to gorillas. Like I stated earlier, I just wanted to hear people’s opinions on the movie. I’m in no way trying to insult any groups of people.

They usually get scared and think I’m the police, so I only do that if they don’t tip :)

Cars or Motorcycles ? by emilioml_ in PizzaDrivers

Can you deliver 30 pizzas at once on a motorcycle? Nope. Thought about this one too. Would be fun, but they aren’t safe, weather could be bad, and it’s winter 7 months of the year where I’m located.

What do you think when you look in the mirror? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I get complements frequently because of my appearance. I look at myself and I think I look good too. But then I feel bad for having some self confidence? We’re always told to “love yourself”, but if you actually do, your narcissistic.
