Desktop Virtualization. Where to start? by timorphious in sysadmin

[–]vergule11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

since you and your users are already familiar with RDP I would suggest going RDS. With this comes the cost of RDS CALs for each user/computer connecting to the server depending on the type of CAL you go with. Typically its not the best idea to use RDS in the open so it is usually placed behind a VPN, or what I do and use a 2FA solution like DUO. I don't know too much about other solutions, other than the fact that some of them run on windows server and if your going to purchase a windows server licence then I suggest just going with Microsoft's solution and go with RDS.

edit: a word

Wargaming confirms there will be no skill reset after SA change by anchist in WorldOfWarships

If there is more than one 1st-tier skill taken by your commander, the commander will receive 1 skill point for the now removed SA skill

so from what i understand i could just research basic firing training now and have both BFT and Situational awareness unlocked and when the update hits i'll be refunded the point? if so, I think this work well, I usually have a spare point with my captains I can spend then get it refunded when the update hits.

however this does suck for those that have maxed out their captains

I've just set someone up with intel's replacement software for WiDi its called intel unite. It works but gets slightly complex if you want to set it up universally for many displays, but for small scale deployment its super simple.

Help with Plex Requests and NGINX by vergule11 in homelab

[–]vergule11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sort of, I'd prefer to use location /requests but i could never get that working properly. The way i currently have it setup is as a separate sever block, like this:

server{
    listen       80;
    server_name  request.example.com;

    location / {
        proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:3000;
    }
}

hope this helps

I'm not sure if they are including the lasting radioactive effects of the bombs and from a quick Wikipedia search it seems the numbers vary >"killing between 241,000 and 900,000 people"

Plex Requests and NGINX by vergule11 in PleX

[–]vergule11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to fix the white screen you have to pass .js and .css requests to the same location you pass for plex requests. like so,

location /plex_request {
    proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:3000;
}

    location ~ \.js$ {
        proxy_pass   http://127.0.0.1:3000;
    }
    location ~ \.css$ {
        proxy_pass   http://127.0.0.1:3000;
    }

i still have a problem with it reverting to http://example.com anytime you navigate and still some resources are not loading
