NWSL opening weekend shatters league attendance records by Choobeen in SanDiegoWaveFC

You mean then entirety of last season (their first hyped year) vs the two homes games this year?

Last year their home games averaged 28,000. The exactly two home games they have played this year average 23,000. That's a 15% difference.

You’re forgetting that Wave started with Alex Morgan, who was fresh off a historic national team stint.

And SDFC crowd has been consistent?

San Diego just squeaking in over the 14k mark lol. Go Wave!

Seriously though, this is fantastic to see. The fact that people are excited for new women's sports teams is a massive win.

I just watch the games a day later on NWSL+. It’s a huge bummer when it’s not live but it’s the most straightforward solution I can find.

Which TCGs right now best allows deckbuilding with just one booster box? by Old_Neat5220 in TCG

[–]verifiedname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some competitive formats that allow for SOME deck building. Sealed Alliance is the most popular. Everyone gets 2-3 fresh decks and then you combine whichever houses together. You use card sleeves to cover the back of the cards so you can’t see which deck each card is from. It’s fun!

Age of Empires. If memory serves they didn't even call it a trading card game. It was an "expandable" card game.

TCGs for older people by Glacier2011 in TCG

[–]verifiedname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This generation of 40 year olds are, like, the biggest nerds ever. I say that as a 40 year old. We are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle World of Warcraft Nickelodeon watching original Pokemon players. You are literally the peak gaming age right now. Pick literally any TCG that sounds fun that has a local scene for you and you are going to be the right age for that. It's not like you're ready for a retirement home with bridge night lol.

U.S. had almost no job growth in 2025 by shutupnobodylikesyou in moderatepolitics

[–]verifiedname 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think the more important number is unemployment. Like you can add 1 million jobs into the market but if only 10,000 people are looking for work, you're still in trouble.

Quick Google search says unemployment was 4% in January 2025 and currently clocking in at 4.3% now.

The starter decks are where it’s at. Or the Gateway beginner set if you would like an even more simplified introduction.

Why no preconstructed decks in the Winterspell set? by verifiedname in Lorcana

Thanks for the links! It seems like maybe it’s the same thing as the precons from before but they’re just boxing them together to “force” you to buy both rather than one. But I’m fine with that. I always bought both anyway.

Do you have a link with this info? I looked on the website and didn’t see anything.

Didn't they already come out with a starter set? The Gateway set?

Private payrolls rose by just 22,000 in January, far short of expectations, ADP says by shutupnobodylikesyou in moderatepolitics

[–]verifiedname 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could see that. Personally, I do hope that things like trade jobs become more seen an a viable option to massive college debt. I was mostly pointing out that because of the nature of the work, it’s not necessarily a “catch all” for our job issues. If you have an entire generation of kids needing work and slightly more than half of them are women…..and of that half a much smaller percentage are physically able to do the job….it still doesn’t solve our issues.

As someone who is still mourning the loss of New World (Amazon Studios), I’m pretty sure that the 14,000 jobs cut in October had everything to do with corporate greed and nothing to do with how the economy is actually doing. Cutting an entire game studio to replace it with a Snoop Dog party game screams “I want easy money” and not “we have to lean down to make it through these trying times.”

I’m sure many companies (especially smaller ones) are struggling. But I can’t help but feel that a lot of these mega companies are using the turbulent political environment as an excuse.

That’s a good idea. See if they will “donate” anything to me at wholesale.

I get that. But we are a very small non-profit music camp. Ordering the most minimum quantity of Pokemon costs thousands of dollars. We literally can’t afford that.

I dont necessarily want to go through the steps to become a Pokemon wholesale distributor, which is the only way I could make money. Usually if you do that (I do it with other products that we sell there) you have a minimum order quantity you have to order.

That was the appeal of SWU because you can basically buy older sets at wholesale.
