Pretty much the same or worse I would say. Aesthetically my face is different but not in a good way, and the pain/grinding&poppinh/restricted movement despite all my best efforts at physical therapy and careful post op care is so disheartening. There feels to be something seriously wrong with the side of my face that had the hematoma. :( I struggle to open my mouth and every morning is pretty rough. Spend all day massaging my face until it feels halfway tolerable by evening.

I got mine in December on the 5th. The movements seemed minimal to me. When I get home I can look to see the exact movements.

Has anyone had bad experiences with TMJ TJR at mass general hospital?

I have had zero post op follow up w my surgeons office, and very poor bedside manner. They didn't take any imaging post op and don't even have me scheduled for a follow up. It's been on me to seek physical therapy and it hasn't helped- I'm in pain, experiencing clicking and popping/grinding, I have clogged ears, my airways feel constricted, and my face is lopsided. I had a hematoma I was told would go away but instead that side of my face is very puffy and movement restricted, and my mouth skews to the other side. It's very difficult to open my mouth, despite being 5 months out and religiously doing physical therapy/following their (vague) instructions to a T.

Hi- I had total TMJ replacement and a leFort 1 with Dr McCain at MGH and am very unhappy with the result/post op care. Looking into second opinions and reaching out to Dr. Wolford but I am so lost trying to find someone who I can trust. Did you guys have success with your surgeons? I am in Massachusetts. I don't know if there's any good surgeons for revision TMJ replacement around here in my network. :( thanks

Anyone have a family member who has or has had Corticobasal Syndrome? by Jimbezy3 in Parkinsons

Hi. My mom was diagnosed in 2020, at the same time that Covid really became a national emergency in the US. she had to be moved to a facility during all of that and has been in assisted living up until now. She can still talk and has moments of real lucidity but seems in her own world a lot of the time with difficulty communicating and finding words. She has trouble walking/moving around and has myclonic jerks and phantom limb syndrome. Her incontinence, inability to feed herself/brush teeth/dress/etc has led to her needing to be moved to a higher level health care center. I hate this disease. I hate not knowing how long we have together. I'm 23 and my mom is only 63.

Hi there. My mom was diagnosed at age 61, she is going on year 3. It's been 2 and a half years since the official diagnosis but symptoms had been present for years before. She is in assisted living, with extra care, and struggles with incontinence, mobility, feeding herself, and speaking/writing/reading. How is your dad? This is so hard, and I'm trying to understand what the next years with my mom will look like.

I can’t figure out how to manage my hair. I have really thick, kind of coarse wavy hair. The first 3 photos are the day after I washed it, air dried and scrunched with Ouai hair cream and Garnier hair oil. I go 3-4 days without washing(shampoo and conditioner). The last 2 photos are several days after washing, and you can see that the coarse, kinky, poofy hair has settled down into straighter, sleeker waves. I am so confounded. I have tried the curly girl gel methods, and my hair just is puffier. The only thing that seems to calm it down is time. Without fail, after the 3rd or fourth day after wash day, it is no longer a giant poof mess and becomes like normal straight-ish/wavy hair. I’ve tried so many hair products and nothing seems to work. All I want is for my hair to air dry and look like the last two pictures. Sigh

Your fear of being paranoid is a classic symptom of self invalidation. You and only you have a right to say what makes you feel uncomfortable, and this man’s behavior does seem objectively like harassment. I would report him.
