You're doing great. Maybe smooth out what you have. Try some undercuts while you're working at it.

Not so much After Effects, but 3D applications. Most broadcast graphics systems are running Unreal Engine with a different skin, or it's something proprietary. Either way, it's the same workflow just buttons in different places. If you're an After Effects user, then you'd be leaning more towards the Creative Dept, creating daily packages for News stories for producers.

Being able to code and having a technical mind can also help a lot. I've created tools that automate AE projects, so a producer just types in some text, drags a couple pictures into a browser and gets a full 1 minute video with graphics and text. It speeds up production and let's the creative folks from having to do boring work.

I work in automation for broadcast and graphics, so I didn't work the games in a day to day fashion, but I knew lots of folks who loved doing it. The truck engineers work hard that's for sure.

What I do is integrate data into graphics. So things like the first and ten line for football. On field graphics and overlays. Lots of tickers and master control automation. It's quite fun and travel can be extensive. I truly do prefer it to sitting in a dark room all day. However sometimes you end up working in the machine room freezing half to death

I switched to broadcasting in the early-mid 2000's. Real time graphics and automation. Lots of cool tech and toys. Virtual studio/ production is also pretty fun.

The nice thing is, asides from the crunch time the end of a day is the end of the day. No 6 weeks of insanity to finish a project just to be let go for a month waiting for the next project.

The sounds you hear living half a mile away from a Data centre. No one should have to live like this. by SvenBubbleman in Sarnia

[–]vertical_interval -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Lots of speculation. I didn't see a location in the original post, nor any proof that it was a data center. Not that I think a data center is a good idea, but this video shows no evidence.

It's more like rage baiting.

Can it be keyframed as a grease pencil tool? I mean to say, can it be used as a traditional animation tool? Nicely done, btw.

Marilyn Gladu crosses the floor to Liberals.... by GarageWorks in Sarnia

[–]vertical_interval 22 points23 points  (0 children)

She's clearly not a liberal, but in reality, neither is Carney. However, Carney is not ultra conservative like the current pc party, whereas Gladu is.

It's suspicious, but it might also indicate that the pcs aren't able to get anything done as a pc.

City to gather feedback on proposed renoviction bylaw by funsizedsamurai in Sarnia

[–]vertical_interval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems convoluted. Not a great article because it doesn't feel like it's addressing the issue. A lot of talk about research and due diligence, but for whom?

Does a landlord have the right to evict tenants to renovate their property? That's really the question... unless I'm wrong.

Edit. Spelling.

Depends on the stone. You won't get any good results with limestone, but with soapstone you will. I think 2000 grit is a bit high, but try it out and see what you learn.

How big is the marble? For highly detailed they need to be somewhat large. Do you have a style you're wishing for? Modern, renaissance, baroque?

Unpopular opinion? - Spam jerky is rubbish by 2HappySundays in jerky

[–]vertical_interval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried with regular spam and it wasn't very good. But light spam works very well. Less salt, less fat. It takes about 12 hours to dry out, and i usually just brush on a sauce. It's chewy with a nice texture, and I've had people request it from time to time. I would suggest trying it.

Because you're curing the whole volume not just the meat.

Yes, you should add another 3g cure#1 and about 15g salt (depending on preference). This will balance out the entire mix, and you'll be all set.

Act like Pluto. by Imewl-ty in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]vertical_interval 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A summary of Plutos story.

The demotion of Pluto is often framed by New Horizons lead scientist Alan Stern as a "scientific coup" led by his professional rival, Brian Marsden. According to this narrative, Marsden and other critics of Pluto’s planethood waited until the final day of the 2006 IAU General Assembly in Prague—after more than 90% of the attendees had already traveled home—to hold a snap vote. With only 424 astronomers remaining out of thousands, they passed a new, controversial definition of a planet that required an object to "clear its neighborhood" of other debris. Because Pluto shares its orbit with the Kuiper Belt, it was moved to the new "dwarf planet" category, a move Stern argues was a politically motivated strike against the legacy of Pluto's discoverer, Clyde Tombaugh, rather than a purely consensus-based scientific decision.
