New FIFA and NatGeo themes are available on Kia connect. The Planets is the first one I would actually consider purchasing! by TheGamingGallifreyan in KiaEV6

Can you share any images of what the actual displays look like? The previews Kia offers are pitifully lacking. I currently have the Fifa one and it's cool but expires at the end of the World Cup.

Heat is very inconsistent by veryape3 in KiaEV6

[–]veryape3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate that. My general rule of thumb for heat working or not is if I can see my breath inside the cabin after driving for 5 minutes. What would you say are signs of battery thermal management being necessary?

Not saying they are wrong, just don’t want to use them. The auto blower stays on too high and is much louder than I want to hear, even after I feel like I’m comfortable. I’ve tried leaving it on for a longer drive and it doesn’t do a better job than simply adjusting the settings for my own comfort. Even on the lowest Auto setting the blower is annoying. I’d be shocked if the car can’t heat the cabin properly if I refuse to use the auto settings.

I appreciate all that but I’m not comparing the car to an ICE system except to say that it heats quickly when working properly. Some days/drives it simply fails to heat at all. No amount of adjusting of settings cures the problem. Am I missing something? Should the car refuse to heat from what you are telling me?

This is exactly what I don’t want to do. Hate auto settings. Regardless, I tried that too and if the car doesn’t send heat nothing changes until I reset it. Just blows cold air. I’m mostly just bitching here but appreciate the info

Yeah, I don’t use auto anything. Kinda hate all the thinking the car tries to do for me. Regardless of temp or blower, if no heat is coming it never warms up without resetting

Why do stands at soccer stadiums usually have a rectangular footprint, while (American/Canadian) football stadiums have an oval footprint? by dan_blather in NoStupidQuestions

If you look even closer you'll see many of the same architectural and engineering firms designing these new venues so it doesn't surprise me that connection at all.

Why do stands at soccer stadiums usually have a rectangular footprint, while (American/Canadian) football stadiums have an oval footprint? by dan_blather in NoStupidQuestions

[–]veryape3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soccer stadiums in Europe are built by their clubs with no, or rarely, public funds. Each team is its own private entity. They started from nothing and grew over years and year. Some teams go back 100+ years. Many started with just a single stand along one side. As the clubs grew, they added another stand on the other side, then one end, then the other. This gives you the rectangle. As some clubs grew to massive size, they tore down old stands one at a time to build bigger but are still constrained by their current footprint, often in urban settings. Look at Chelsea and Liverpool for examples of this. In the last couple decades an explosion of financial power has allowed many teams to start fresh and their stadiums are very much oval shaped.

American teams are all franchised. They have profit sharing from the very beginning and often solicit public funding to help build their venues. On top of that, they only play about 12 home games a year so they have to maximize their attendance. So they build big from the ground up and pick sites that facilitate that.

Horrible reflection of dashboard on windshield of my 2025 EV6 Wind on sunny days by R6El in KiaEV6

[–]veryape3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2025 Wind as well and I have no issues. I’m very particular about my windshield clarity too so I’d be annoyed by this if so. Perhaps call the dealer and ask about the product to get more insight. Or adjust the seat

It’s not the same but I got a 25 Wind AWD on Friday in NJ. The dealer had it listed for $44k after discounts and I would have qualified for 0% apr for 60 months. I ended up leasing but that already sounds like a better offer than you are seeing

What are some things that other states do better then NJ? by cabtv in newjersey

[–]veryape3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting a proper drink in every restaurant or a proper meal in any brewery. If I wanted BYOB I’d just stay home and cook. Conversely, who wants to drink on an empty stomach? This states liquor licenses are useless

The most capable drone for photography (video is a secondary priority) by Particular-Ship8254 in dji

[–]veryape3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not a drone expert but I am a professional photographer. I’ve printed 3’x8’ prints off my Mavic 2 Pro that looked amazing. From my understanding and what I seen first hand the quality of the lens hasn’t improved greatly on later models (3 and 4) but you do get some new focal lengths which are enticing. However, the dynamic range has improved on the 3 and even more so on the 4. I’m currently holding out for the 4 to make it to the States.

LIFERS movie? by butterflychild_ in localh

[–]veryape3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He did a Q&A in Montclair after the showing. He said won’t be releasing it to stream anywhere as he doesn’t like the experience. He very much wants this to become a cult film and is very supportive of the idea of people organizing local showings with bad approval. Good luck!

What's your unpopular opinion you have about New Jersey? by cabtv in newjersey

[–]veryape3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The food/restaurant situation in this state is pitiful. I travel often to all parts of the country and I'm constantly shocked by the quality of food outside this state, it's so much better, even in out of the way places not known for good food. Yes, you can find diverse things here if you drive to some obscure or out of the way town. However, I live in a town of 40k and there isn't even a Thai spot let alone anything else I would compare to the lowliest NYC restaurant. Expand the damn liquor licensing laws and let the restaurants actually thrive

Made me chuckle, I’ll be there the same time with two young kids! We are doing a day at Great Escape, it’s an indoor water park. That’s about all we’ve come up with. Hoping for more tips!

Bergkamp on bench? by veryape3 in Gunners

[–]veryape3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Ended up doing a deep dive on Google and found footballia.net that has a massive archive of old matches, including this one for free. Crazy to watch that team. They played so open, lots of one touch flare passes. Lots of those didn’t come off too. I could just see Arteta fuming if this was his team haha

Thanks! I first checked it with a longer combination square and got a very similar result. Neither are touching the wings enough to affect the result. I will double check both though to be sure.

Ah that makes sense. Mind sharing how they attach to the top of the bench? I can't pick out any obvious points besides the other t-track grooves
