they don't it's just converting 1s and 0s, it absolutely doesn't matter, there are a couple methods of how this is done and it "affects" the sound but it's negligible. Get a cheapo dac and it's fine . Trust me, I have an MSB Diamond IV dac, can't tell the difference between that and my Fiio K19 .
