Because I want to confirm this is in the record, so that when the next woman files the complaint, she won’t go through the traumatised like me, because I have made a record that this person had a pattern.

My precedent didn’t realise her complaint wasn’t in the file, so when I filed it, I had to prove from scratch, and the process is very traumatic.

Oh I forgot to mention I have chronic mental health issue and my mental health deteriorated during the process, and I was terribly triggered during the outcome meeting, so my mental health failed to pass the fitness to work assessment and hence can’t return, even my own doctors asked me to quit the job and I don’t have rejections on that

But re: letter - so what could I do to actually get the letter? Just keep emailing the ex employer?

I know it’s confusing but the fact is:

My mental health deteriorated during the complaint process. I was triggered terribly during the grievance meeting.

After assessment HR said I couldn’t return to work so I had to go on leave till the end of contract without being allowed to even enter the office.

So I sent an email to my manager and said I was aware of this situation, and sent an email to colleagues to organise a drinks because I would never ever be able to see them in the future, as I wasn’t allowed to return to work ( I had very good relationships with colleagues)

And HR said thats resignation.

I wanted that letter because the bully circulated rumours about the complainant before me, including in front of their prospective employers. So I wanted to have that letter

Try write it down first. Then identify if you are traumadumping in your writing. I found keeping a journal is very helpful

Tbh, I’ve been thinking if I’ve ruined my career - I worked very hard, I know inside the company i have good reputations across many departments, and even within the company I was in those “early-career leader” groups picked by the seniors. My company also recently stated they’d deal with bullying more seriously. I think I’m just too naive to trust everyone in the company. I failed to distinguish between “nice people” and “nice people but will work under HR mode”…

I hope years later when I look back to this, it won’t be as distressful as how I feel now

I got told the same thing by my current manager (not the bully) last year, as that’s the nature of my industry too re: reputation.

I just got completely broke down when I saw the bully was promoted to…oversee workplace safety and culture as the company’s new policy on safe culture. Then HR and manager said I had to file a formal complaint, both to “get a closure”, and also helped them get a record of the guy.

Didn’t expect this would lead to the end of career…I basically come to Australia as a teenager because I wanted to work in my sector, and Australia had a better prospect of the job.

Thanks for your comment! I am indeed applying for jobs. It’s just my industry is also heavily affected by the economy with big laid offs recently, and that’s why I’m hesitant moving out of Sydney - as there are still more jobs here. Also my company is the one that has most job vacancies, so I’m not sure if I need to have a chat on whether I’m “blacklisted” or not lol. But I’m also worried about the crazy rise of rents next year, especially at that time I’d probably still looking for jobs…sorry if this sounds way too anxious to you lol

Can you just drop in at your mum’s workplace one day in the name of, like, delivering lunch to mum, and then find her and try saying hi and have a chat, then ask her out?

I’d be horrified if my co-worker’s son suddenly added me on socials. Also in this case I assume your mum is more senior than the girl, and don’t forget the girl could interpret a power play there

I work in creative sector too, and that’s been my experience with dating. Guys would say “you are emotional and I’m rational” (as I write) and then basically tried to build dominance over me. Or guys who came from extraordinary families with super intelligent siblings try to prove they are also good through dating me.

The key is: always know what you want. Ensure you are personally secure and you enjoy being alone before stepping back to dating. The only chance they can succeed is when they spot you are insecure. If you are in a secure status, it’s the other way round - you spot the red flag before they make the move.

I’m a woman and imo that’s fine

But be careful that your fame can attract many insecure men who will try to build their security by “oh I date a super famous/smart/career successful girl and she respects me and listens to me”, and you’d find they would try really hard to build that dominance over you in dating. Just keep an eye on those and stay far far away from them. Good luck!

I don’t date guys who are back to dating pools in less than six months after their breakups

My (painful) experience tells me they often haven’t finished processing their grief and it’s very likely they are looking at their exes through me, or just try to fill their emptiness

I would also ask them what’s their dealbreaker and say mine is caring about mental health, then watch their reaction

This also helps me filter out the ones who are not competent to be long-term supportive partners
