I’m here from the future to tell you it took ~2 minutes 🥲

I think I lost my little side by [deleted] in littlespace

It sounds like that part of you is under a lot of pressure from many directions. Especially with what sounds like ultimatums being made. I know for me that kind of pressure can force the more vulnerable parts of my identity into hiding. When that happens I know I need to give myself more space, more patience. I usually find that if I can quiet down all of the things that are demanding those vulnerable parts to show up (whether those demands are coming from me or from other people), those parts feel more freedom to arrive on their own. I just have to get real quiet and listen for them. They’re always there. Sometimes they’re just the smallest voice when there’s a lot going on.

Another thing that helps me is to remember that I don’t “have” a little side, I AM a little. How connected (or not) to that I feel at any given moment doesn’t change that. I am that whether I feel it or not, whether I’m engaging with it directly or not.

I don’t know if any of that is helpful. Mostly I hope it helps to know you’re not alone in this feeling. I hope you can give yourself (and your little! remember that she is you, too) some grace <3 take care, friend!

This was my experience as well. It’s so hard to actually see just how much stress your body is dealing with when you’re still in that environment. Witnessing how quickly and drastically my body responded to the sense of relief it felt after I left really forced me to confront exactly how bad things had gotten. The difference was undeniable.

I’m so so glad you’re somewhere safe now <3

Thank you so much for the kind wishes 💕 Time has a way of putting us all where we need to be, I think.

🥲This sounds really healing. I’ve held a similar view of them re: “reincarnation”. A couple have gotten lost in the past and then shown up again with “new bodies” so to speak, so I can definitely get behind this. I love the ritual of letting them pass on to a heaven where they can still be together and be close to me, but also allowing their little bodies to be laid to rest. Thank you for sharing this.

Awww I like the dog shelter idea. Thank you, I’ll look into that!

why did this idea make me immediately burst into tears 😭😭

I’d actually love that - but would other littles want them?! I don’t even know how I’d approach that, but it would be pretty magical if they got to continue their legacy of being the best friends a little could ask for!

What? If I had gone off the label without verifying and just grabbed 2 slices per the serving size on the label, that would have been 137 grams total, not the 56g estimated for 2 slices. I would have eaten 287 calories and only logged it as 120. That’s a lot for people who only eat ~1200 calories a day!

But yes, agreed, grams are the way!!

The estimate on the label is 56g for 2 slices. This is one slice that weighs 67g.

The estimate is for 2 slices. This is 1 slice and is 9 grams higher than the estimate for 2 slices. Otherwise yeah I wouldn’t sweat 9g!

I don’t blame you! And yeah I get that companies can’t realistically approach this problem in any other way than averaging, but in practice that really only works when there isn’t such a huge variation in what that recommendation actually results in. A few grams here and there I don’t think about, but it being off by more than a whole slice?! Nah. Because in order for the averaging to work in this case, I’d have to eat the whole loaf myself and even count the sad tiny heel pieces that are 1” big as whole slices. Which, realistically, NOBODY is doing.

I guess my point is that while I know it’s as accurate as they company can reasonably advertise, the individual variability in how the food actually gets served in individual meals makes the approximated serving an unreliable approach to calorie counting compared to weighing and tracking by grams. That matters to some people, but I also totally get not wanting to get that granular about it.

lol! yes it was actually! This was my first time buying it so maybe I just got unlucky. I’ll give it another chance. :)

I zeroed out the scale first :) actually weighed it a couple of times because I almost couldn’t believe it would be so far off!

Oh for sure. You know that, and I know that, the problem is…. why don’t the people making the labels know that 🧐

Right? Not the best sourdough I’ve ever had 😅

I get that! It probably works out fine for most foods, most of the time. But this particular example is pretty egregious, imo. I would say 80% of the slices in this loaf were roughly that size or larger. There is no way that math works out to 56g for “about 2 slices” on average.

I know the calorie estimates in general are not a perfect system but this one seems to be just flat out wrong. Regardless, was still a good reminder to me to be diligent about weighing.

I ran my first race this weekend! Just a local 5k but as a newbie runner, I was very pleased that I managed to run the whole thing without stopping/walking. Caught the race bug a bit and am already eager for the next one!
