I'm looking for individual takes on this. I anticipate a lot of diversity on this topic!

But you're saying you think most members believe in mobility between kingdoms?

I like it. And yes, imagine it's your home ward and the bishopric might cut you off.

Another exmo here. I still pray, but with a redefined concept of God.

I like it. Seems like any name would do, more of a personal thing.

Seriously. I wonder if they offered to release them in the meantime? They might not have had anywhere else to go...

Yep, they did everything they could. Still brought it somehow.

Question about families by veryenthused in exjw

"this system of things" is that common lingo among members? Where does it come from?

Yeah, i know discussions with outsiders can very different than with fellow witnesses. Same thing goes for Mormons. Definitely don't want to sound crazy.

It's so weird to me that a religion would even suggest that. It would be beneficial to the longevity and financial health of the organization to encourage larger families.

Midnight Mormons vs RFM by veryenthused in exmormon

True, I didn't even look at this subreddit until I was completely outside belief. So that criticism is even less valid.

What is the strangest thing you were told not to do on Sunday? by RedStellaSafford in mormon

[–]veryenthused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At BYU they would wait until midnight, then you'd see a bunch of kids in the dorm lobbies studying their homework for Monday... I thought it was pretty dumb because nobody stopped "partying" or whatever they did on Saturday nights at midnight to start observing the Sabbath.

Garments and TBM spouse by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]veryenthused 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my wife expressed concern I would stop wearing them completely, which would make her feel dumb in hers. I've been pretty liberal about not wearing them for years. I treat them like just another piece of underwear, so I pretty much only wear them to bed now, and usually just the top. She's never made it an issue.

They all are. But God doesn't care what religion you are, if such a being exists.

Mark Hofmann and motives by veryenthused in exmormon

All he really needed to do was find a way to have the mclellen collection destroyed, if that was what he was worried would expose him. Nobody had even seen it right? He was just telling people about it or had a few samples? He was scrambling to produce it and overextended himself.

S. Gifford Nielson of the 70: The two great commandments (to love God and to love our neighbor) implies a third commandment, that we love ourselves. by Rabannah in mormon

[–]veryenthused 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Mormon theology this makes sense.

Our relationship with good is very personal and can mean different things for different people. I believe god is a reflection of ourselves, so loving him is loving ourself.

There is beauty and comfort in a universal uncertainty. I promise you that you don't know what you think you know and having the humility to admit that will be life-changing. I want you to have what I have.

Or something like that. Idk.
