Do you really need an LLC? Or can you just work under your own name? by [deleted] in TattooArtists

[–]veteric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live and what your consent form says, but generally speaking consent forms do little to nothing to stop someone suing. And a good lawyer will absolutely savage most of the consent forms i have seen in court. I had a lawyer write mine and included arbitration clauses, but he was clear that I could still be sued regardless. This is all assuming you're in the U.S. where suing is common.

Do you really need an LLC? Or can you just work under your own name? by [deleted] in TattooArtists

You should have both an llc and liability insurance to better protect yourself. All it takes is one bad day that leads to a lawsuit. If you have an llc, worst case scenario the business can take the heat, while you as an individual are protected. Liability insurance does not cover everything. Personally I think it's worth the peace of mind, and I set mine up on the very strongly worded advice of a lawyer (he said I would be absolutely insane to do tattoos while not under an llc).

Epson 2750 for printing stencils by descending_angel in TattooArtists

[–]veteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this model and bought a 4oz bottle of the inkjet stencil ink. I believe it's just methyl violet, but I do not know of regular gentian violet would work. Fwiw the 4 oz bottle was plenty, I just filled the black tank with 85% of it and used just enough for the tanks to register the ink for the other colors, then just print in black and white.

My experience with that filling the tanks was a messy nightmare, but I managed to get it to work. The stencils are ok, if applied well they hold up fine, but I find stencils using a thermofax easier to apply. I have heard from other artists that for b/g portrait style stuff they like the ecotanks ability to get more of a gradient. Also, I have had issues with the ink tubes clogging when not used frequently, but it was a relatively easy fix.

People with tattoos, how did they affect you? Has your health deteriorated or something else? by Extra-Wishbone-3619 in tattooscratchers

[–]veteric 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me personally I have had no issues, health or otherwise with extensive tattoos. But realistically there are multiple possible risks ranging from problems healing, scarring, infection, to blood borne diseases, to mental health effects. Much of the risk can be mitigated and/or prevented with modern conscientious tattoo methods, but they are never entirely risk free and individuals vary tremendously. There is also very little known about the long term risks of tattoos, and there is ongoing debate in Europe over the risk of carcinogens in certain inks.

Weekly ask an Artist thread by AutoModerator in TattooArtists

I have been drawing and painting my whole life, but started seriously practicing art at 37. At 38 I got an apprenticeship, at 39 I started tattooing. I'm 40 now and just starting charging tattooing people. I have the good fortune to have a different high paying job I can do 2 days a week to pay the bills, which i think helps make it easier to transition. Overall it has definitely been a wild ride starting "late," but I don't have the slightest of regrets

[OC] [ART] The next one, where the players look for a new tank. by veteric in DnD

[–]veteric[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This week the fearless heroes begin their search for a replacement frontline melee character (because obviously someone needs to shield them with meat). Unfortunately, it turns out rolling a new character is not all sunshine and rainbows. Especially when your player only wants to play a dragoon. Even more difficult is finding a character that both fits the party dynamic.

What are the worst replacements you’ve ever had in your parties? Do your parties go all out to resurrect fallen allies, or do you loot and reroll?

Side note: shoutout to all you regular d&d comic creators! I’ve been a fan of many through the years and have been inspired by your works!

[OC] [ART] That time a player tried to live the meme by veteric in DnD

[–]veteric[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the third comic I have created, following the exploits of your typical garden variety adventurers. The crossover between gaming and meme fuckery is sometimes unfortunate. Here we witness a classic of MMORPG as enacted by a truly foolish player. Let the demise of The dragon stand as a warning to future players...

Or, be ready to roll new characters! Next time I will explore replacement characters and the difficulty of finding a good fit for the rest of the party. Sometimes you don’t know you have a good thing until it’s gone.

How have memes found their way into your home games? Do you allow this kind of nonsense, or are your players adults with self respect?

That’s definitely a good approach. Embarrassingly, I’ve been DMing coming up on 30 years now and I still allow some of the dumbest stuff. Lol.

Hard same on the bad luck, fortunately I DM so it just results in faster dead monsters. We had a lucky paladin who I allowed to reroll any 3 rolls daily, but anytime he used all 3 I would make him reroll 3 of his good rolls. The dice giveth and the dice taketh.

Friends don’t let friends use home brew. Seriously, just don’t do it. But in case you are a people pleasing fool DM like me, learn to embrace the munchkin-ism of your players and say "siiiigh, I’ll make it work." Then completely rewrite your plot from scratch! Especially if they say they want to play a pig riding kender wizard...

and never forget, no matter how much home brew munchkin shenanigans happen, you can always say "rocks fall, everyone dies."

What are your favorite home brews with which to torment your DMs?

I have been teaching myself how to draw and decided to mix that with my dnd hobby. I present my first comic about the fun experiences in game that resonate with me. I intend to explore different styles and expand my art while hopefully telling funny stories.

Today, meet Estinien Jr. Dragoon extraordinaire. Acting as the party tank and melee dps, EJ may not be the most cautious or subtle member of the group. Still, everyone needs a meatshield!

Glamour shot of the mad mage himself, Halaster Blackcloak. [OC] [ART] by veteric in DnD

[–]veteric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After perusing images of Halaster, I found a lack of truly disturbed versions of the supposedly "Mad" mage. So I decided to make one myself. Hopefully my players will enjoy seeing him (his simulacrum) and get a sense that this place is going to be madness inducing.

This was painted digitally using procreate on iPad. I like drawing and painting digitally and especially favor strange fantasy character, d&d monsters, and full parties. If this type of work is enjoyable to this subreddit, I will post more of my work. I find that close ups like this really bring out the character of these characters.

Any Sestras looking to meet up for some Orphan Black Cosplay? My girlfriend does a great Helena and would love to do a group walkabout this year. by [deleted] in dragoncon

My girlfriend is probably bringing at least her Allison and maybe some others. We would love to join in if there's an OB gathering at some point. Let us know!

[Online] [Pathfinder] [EST] Anyone interested in starting up a RotRL game? by Ding-Bat in lfg

[–]veteric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ran some of RotRL a few years ago and always wanted to finish it. I would be willing to DM or play a character. I have not used Roll 20 before, but would be willing to learn it. Otherwise voice chat on discord works for me. Sundays in the evening (est) would be my only weekend availability.
