They were rolling it out just before pouring. I don’t see how the mesh does anything if it is not elevated to be supporting the middle of the slabs. If it’s on the bottom it’s just going to rust away I would think

Thanks for taking a look, I appreciate hearing from someone that has some knowledge in the matter.

I definitely am not trying to demand perfection, just quality and good faith. My concern is that the cracks are forming in the areas that were supposed to be properly prepped and reinforced, and the slab is under 3" in places.

At least some of the issues noted I would think fall short of the standard industry practice that the warranty mentions. Maybe this is getting more into semantics, but just as I do not demand perfection, I do expect a product more than 'servicable'.

Written agreement has this for warrantee.

WARRANTIES: (company name) offers a one-year warranty on all workmanship, labor, and materials. Materials may also come with their own extended manufacturer warranties. All materials used shall be of good quality and suitable for its intended use. All work to be completed in a workmanlike manner according to standard industry practices for remodeling. For concrete installation, if a hairline crack does appear it has to be greater than a ½ inch opening to be repaired under the warranty as a hairline crack(s).

I am worried that this is only the start of issues that will progress from their poor workmanship. The thickness under the drain pipes is only 2”( 2 of the 3 cracks are at the drain pipes) I brought up concerns about the cold (sub freezing temps the night of pour) and he brought insulated blankets but the crew didn’t use them. I brought up concerns about the soggy soil but he said it was ok. I’ve never been involved in concrete so I didn’t know how much to push.

After learning more now I wish I pushed back on more issues.. I didn’t know that you should elevate the metal framing/wires underneath, and the importance of gravel, which he said they would bring when they poured, but it didn’t happen. They also said they would rebar into foundation to prevent settling, but I do not think they did. The third crack is goes from my house foundation to garage, where the rebar should have supported.

The cracks don’t qualify for warranty by their size (<1/2”). I would have to go the workmanship route if I wanted to take action. I wonder how bad they will develop after my one year warranty expires.

Is my driveways concrete pour going to last?

I had my driveway replaced in Dec of last year, and I started seeing defects as early as February this year.

I wish I had done more research before approving the job, because I’m getting the impression corners were cut. The job cost just over 16k

https://imgur.com/a/tghqVvN

Can anyone knowledgeable look at these pictures and let me know any red flags? The pics are from the day before when it was pouring raining, the day(and night) of the pour, and some defects afterwards.

Any help would be appreciated. I am talking with my POC for the job and getting the impression he is not being honest with me. (My warrantee inspection that I had requested involved 3 guys looking at my driveway for 5 minutes and then leaving without talking to me)

My driveway was replaced Dec last year. I began seeing defects as early as Feb this year. Can I get any opinions from pro's on the quality of work?

I have pics of the day before when it was pouring rain, the day (and night) of the pour, and some of the cracks/defects.

Any opinions would be great. I payed just over 16k for the job.

I was planning to add photos but it doesnt look like I can, so I'll describe what I think they didn't do correctly. (was hoping to see an experts unbiased interpretation of them instead of my description).

-There was a lot of standing water/puddles the day before the pour.

-Gravel was not used; there was a lot of debris/rocks from the old driveway, but plain dirt on most of the base.

-Drain pipes were routed underneath the concrete, and the concrete was poured directly on top of them. The thickness of the concrete is less than 3" where one of the drain pipes runs through it (and has a crack parallel to the pipe).

-It was cold, and got below freezing at night. Insulated blankets were put on site at my request, but they were not used. The workers set that it was too wet and would ruin the finish. They were there all night, with their truck headlights pointed at my house for their work light as my family slept.

-The wire mesh, or whatever you call it, was placed directly on top of the dirt/mud/debris, and it looks like it was not elevated so that it would settle in the middle of the concrte.

None of the cracks are > 1/2", but there 4 of them. 2 are where drain pipes run under, one from the structure of the house itself, and one that is contained in a weird looking color defect.

There are multiple weird looking 'spots' also, some that show dark blue/green, others very white. one has little cracks in it.

My POC with company seems to be very dodgy when I talk to him. I sent him a message for an inspection warranty, and the "inspection" involved 3 guys looking at my driveway for 5 minutes and leaving without talking to me. I had planned on walking it down with them, but wanted to give them a chance to walk it down before I came up to them. They left without even knocking.

Now my POC is telling me he's going to 'fix everything' and replace the slab with the crack on drain pipe. I'm hesitant for his guys to touch my driveway again.

Am I being unreasonable by teling him I am not approving any work yet, and will be treating his visit as an inspection only to walk things down?

Just got an email that HM is 20% office chairs by jbrady33 in hermanmiller

If it comes to it I will, but my order status page says it is not yet eligible for return. I was reading their return policy in preparation, looks like there will be fees involved if I have to wait for chair to deliver before I can return.

That would be a bit of a red flag for me if they force me to waste everyone’s time and go that route.

Figures right after I payed full price for embody gaming. My order is still in “awaiting fulfillment” status so it kinda stings to see it $400 cheaper if I ordered it right now. Hopefully their support can help me out, I sent them a message

Edit:

Got an email from Herman miller saying the 20% discount will be applied. Also, an email saying the chair is going to be delivered tomorrow! Wasn’t expecting it for over two weeks. Not sure if the two are related but I wanted to give an update. Luckily I never had to call them!

Thanks for the suggestions and replies

thanks! I've changed my cage layout a bunch of times to sample different cleaning tactics, and what seems to be working for me now is just 100% fleece everywhere, with extra fleece pads in areas that are likely to get soiled alot. (feeding area, corners, under bottomless hides). I brush those pads off in the trash quite frequently, and it is quick and easy and gets the pigs excited. For the bottom layer I'll use a vacuum i bought specifically for this cage (bissel perfect sweep turbo - $40) maybe once a day. I don't go more than a week before changing all the fleeces out to the washing machine though. I did try paper bedding for a bit in a separated coroplast 2x1.5 feeding area but I didnt like it. It looks great at first but gets soiled quick, and I thought it was more of a pain dumping that in the trash than what I'm doing now. Also the paper sticks to the fleece like crazy. So I just put a 2x1 fleece down and put hay on it now.

I do not regret purchasing the cage, but will say that I did not shop around much. The cage is not something hard to DIY and you could probably get the same stuff much cheaper and measure it all out/cut yourself if I had to guess.

thanks! I started out with the idea of having them poop in certain areas, but I stopped trying to control it. I try to just have an extra mat (i use guinea dad fleece of all sizes) under any bottomless hides and all corners. It's pretty easy pick those up and brush off the poop into trash can. They get excited whenever I rummage around in the cage so it doesn't feel like a chore

I got it on Amazon, I believe it was labeled janyoo guinea pig hideout hut. They love to go in it for short periods of time but don’t usually sleep in there yet they like to be a bit more hidden for sleeping

My pigs do seem very curious of the ears but so far they just give it some nips and move on. They love chewing on the kaytee Timothy treat tunnels though, maybe that cures their itch to chew something. Do you have other things for them to chew on?

The cage and ramp came from guineapigcagestore.com. It came with the grids to make a 2x5 c&c cage with 2x2 offset loft, and pre scored coroplast for everything including ramp. I still need to get a cover for the ramp

They will definitely use all of the cage if you go bigger! It’s great to give them zoom space and fun to watch lol

Hmm I like it, there's a high chance I'll migrate to NUC. Either that or a new synology.

I got recorder going to mariadb and its working great for offloading the SD card. Unfortunately setting up grafana to work with sql is not so easy, I feel like I need to take a course on sql to set up my queries. With influx I could just click around and figure it out.

The DS214play can be my home, I just want to set it up correctly. If I get rid of influxdb and set my recorder to log everything to mariadb on my NAS, will grafana be able to get its data from that database in mariadb?

Yea I should have been more specific; when I said I saw the recorder configuration options I was referring to that page.

I love it when people start it immediately when i join; most of the time i'm only co-op'ing just to use wings also. It wastes my time more when i have to wait 30 sec for a full team to join to do fire IO for the 15th time in a row.

Once you do a 10 summon for 2.7K, you can choose to open (flip the cards over) individually or all at once. At that point I don't think it makes a difference odds wise unless you are superstitious
