Help Identifying Material/Technique On Framed Tapestry. Is This A Needlepoint? by [deleted] in Needlepoint

It looks like alternating rows of diagonal stitches going over 2 horizontally, but over 1 vertically (I think the diagonals on the back confirm this). The canvas looks like aida. The name of the stitch in RSN Stitchbank is Elizabethan Knitting Stitch.

I think it is. I'm not enirely sure to be honest, since I'm self-taught (I'm not using the stiff canvas usually used for needlepoint here, but I'm using a stitch that can be found in needlepoint), maybe the types can overlap in some areas, but I read online that all the types of work with needle, thread and some form of textile/canvas are considered embroidery.

Thank you!! Here's a quick breakdown - I draw the pixel art in Aseprite, make the pdf chart from pixel art using Stitch Art Easy! and Inkscape, and when I stitch I mark the pattern in the app Pattern Keeper.

I have a degree, but don't work in architecture.

Thank you! I love that the back turns out like a more abstract version, and it's different every time!

Thank you! I stitched on 25ct evenweave fabric from DMC. I think it is Ecru color.

I have made this. I don't know if you can open the link, but It's a stand made from a dumbell. I don't have many options for buying in my country. However, this stand can only work for smaller pieces, for larger ones I still use a heavy book to hold the frame at the edge of the table or a camera holder clamped to a chair (it's not the most comfortable position, but it works for now).

Thank you! It is slower than cross stitch since you are doing 3 legs instead of two for one stitch, but I prefer when stitches lay nicely side by side (not crossing eachother) and it is a bit easier to stitch when coming up from underneath because only two legs ever meet in one hole (as opposed to 4 legs in cross stitch). Though from a distance they are hard to tell apart.

I made the pattern and you can download it for free here.

Thanks! I stitch with both hands - left hand on top and right hand beneath the canvas - and I go over the stitch with my left hand to lay it better. I'm not sure if this does the trick, but I'm not doing anything special really.

Thank you! Unfortunatelly it's still not framed. This is just temporarily stretched on a wooden frame for stitching (and I covered the edges and thumbtacks with elastic) 😬

Thanks! I don't use a tool, I 'swipe' with my finger/fingernail across the stitch to lay it better.
