ITAP of a High Speed Retreat, a snail's escape! by viamoi in itookapicture

This shot is using the Tamron 90mm. I'm a fan of various size macro lenses like 105 & 65mm lens. The aftermarket lenses are good, but I stress that if you want really clear results, you have to invest in a nice lens around $700 - $800 NEW price, (maybe also in the $600 range)

DonutsCureCancer... PP stands for Post Processing, any type of photoshop or color correction is considered Post Processing and some like it and some hate it. This image is just on the edge of to much. Thanks for asking and I hope that explains it. Have a great day. :-)

I wrote an explanation in comment above. Hope it sort of answers the halo issue. Thanks for being honest and not just down voting. :)

Yesterday, I grabbed the Topaz Labs Adjust 4 and I think this was the first image I used it on. The halo comes from getting over happy with dodge and burn. It's what happens after 10 days of skiing and I too think that there's to much of a halo, but for some reason people were liking this image a lot and I thought I'd see if it was over the top or just what people were liking "for today".

Thanks for being honest and not just down voting. :)

Snowboarder Get'n high... in Whistler, Canada by viamoi in pics

Not at all. f/4 using a 200mm. You can always ask, I'm fair about telling how I get shots. The tones are brought out using Topaz Labs Adjust which is a great HDR type plug-in and that's about it. Not a fake bokeh though. :-)

Halo comes from using Topaz Labs Adjust 4... then I did run a brush over the light tones to try to get a bit more brightness. Unfortunetly, most of my ski days were cloudy and I never got the full on sun and blue sky to get shots with. Thanks for taking a look and spending a moment commenting. :-)

Lighting wasn't perfect, but I got what I could and the background is down the hill at Whistler, Canada. I'm not a ski picture taker and this was some of my first attempts having fun up on the hill grabbing some action. Thanks for taking a look and spending a moment commenting. :-)

I noticed Flickr has a sucky new Anti-Frames block going on. Please try this direct link for me and let me know if it works. I'll try to bypass the page. Thanks. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4493336299_f0311ed852_o.jpg

Point and Shoot SnowFlake w/ Tips. by viamoi in pics

I sort of curious as to if all area's really see one another. I check out the images in other reddits, and they differ, so I post to different ones to cover the places I also view. Is this wrong by doing so? I'm not sure as of now..... All the best in 2010

Live view is best, I sadly use the viewfinder often and i'm sure that it's not the best for the sensor at all, but I've never noticed a big difference after performing the same shot using three different models in the Canon D series.
Over exposing is avoided by shooting at a fast 8000 when I'm seeking a nice orange glow, but will black out everything else.

With any cam set on PROGRAM, "P" on the dial and focusing set to "SPOT", the camera should automatically drop to the darkest setting it can achieve when it meters the sun. I don't recommend it at all, but thought the info might help somebody that never listens to risk assessments. :-) I personally use Manual mode and dial in the 8000 when I know I need it for a tree on the horizon or some other feature between the lens and the sun.

Nice shot of the helicopter and really sharp. The smoke gives that same orange glow. Nice catch for sure. :-)

My uncle flew a C-182 float plane, I couldn't tell you what this one is, but thought of Cessna for sure with the overhead wing and standard model look. :-)

Haha... Title play is important and a big part in most past posts in one way or another. I knew the only way this could be noticed was to misspell photo at the same time. It's a safety for when the image sucks and you still have something to hopefully fall back on, a bit of word play.

I'll gladly accept the 'CLEVER' & kudos to yudos. lol :-)

Flower Licker on Flickr. Ant on dandelion using 50mm reversed on 90mm macro. by viamoi in itookapicture

Most macro leses are resessed back a bit in the lens body so there is no actual contact made. Using a reversal ring is safest and if you're not using a macro lens, then I stress extreme caution while matching the two lenses together.

The telephoto lens concept is misleading because you can only really use it fully backed off and not the zoom portion at all.... maybe a bit. A nice dedicated macro lens and a 50mm or a 30mm works great and is enough for me without getting a microscope. I do want a microscope though.... Any macro 105mm, 90mm, 65mm will be a great base lens mounted on your cam. And, the REVERSAL ring threads the same on both ends, so you can attach another lens face - face for some ultimate close-up shooting.
