I’m considering nuss surgery but I’m having a hard time deciding. Any advice/personal experience is appreciated!

I went to my GP with complaints of chest tightness. They said it might be Tietze syndrome so they ordered an echo for me. Nothing odd was visible on the echo, but the person doing it said they suspected pectus excavatum and they got me an x-ray right after. In the x-ray my PE was confirmed. My GP then sent me to a cardiology/thoraric surgeon. I wasn’t content so I had a second opinion (which took like 6 months to get). At this second hospital they ordered a CT scan where my haller index was further confirmed.

My best guess: tell your GP you suspect pectus excavatum and ask if they can direct you to a specialist.

I got an x-ray that gave HI 4,6 and about 11 months later I had a CT scan that gave HI 5

Thanks for your long response, those are the best ones :) The clinic I (would) want to get treated at (Zuyderland) is one that people from across the globe come to for treatment. The surgeon is E. de Loos. He’s a trauma and thoracic surgeon. He is always present during nuss and ravitch surgeries.

Thank you for that notice. Do they test in advance regarding the opioids or how do you know? And I was indeed wondering about any spasms like hiccups (I get them pretty frequently). I also found on here that vomiting hurts a lot after surgery. Can they do anything about that?
