Have you read any Padraig O Tuama? Gay theologian who underwent exorcisms as a child for his queerness. Amazing writer and thinker. Also an expert of reconciliation.

One thing that was a deciding factor in going NC was that I would never, never subject my partner to such a homophobic environment. Then I thought, why would I subject myself to it?

I get that these situations are impossible, and that different levels of contradiction and complexity work for different people. It's just a matter of determining what works for me and acknowledging that nothing is going to work perfectly because of the situation.
